Semi On Topic, do you think BST duo'ing or PUP duo'ing would interest a new player in their play style? Or should I just make parties and level together in a party setup? I always found exp parties to be frustrating when I was low-level, but it could be much easier now than back then.

The problem with BST or PUP is what she does when you're not there. PUP not so much but BST doesn't give her much flexibility to interact with other players.

I would actually have something you can duo, so 2x BST are pretty awesome and can take on a lot of stuff and perhaps, level a more mainstream job as well. So if NIN, WAR, WHM or DNC interest her (thinking about jobs you may level as subs) then she can always switch over to one of those.

IMO, PUP is awesome cause it can be used solo and is versatile in party, plus it's fun to play.


And ya, what other ppl have said; just have to remember that we PL, etc because we've done it all before and the tasks get repetitive; nothing is repetitive yet to a new player.

It took me a long time to get my first job to 75 because I was running quests, etc for money, fame, gear; even went after NMs to save gear costs (still have my frog trousers).

the last question I have on the job selection would be if I were to start out with a mission path, should I try to do COP first or the nation missions? I found the COP stuff more immersive, but I think the Nation missions would be easier.

I would say nation missions as you get rewards like airship pass, etc (if windy, portal charm). don't need to get rank 10, but at least like rank 6 or so.

Thats one way to kill the fun instantly.

Killing mobs when theres no danger is what makes it dull. Switch to a low level job and go fight shit with her, and do some of the low level Missions and Quests. Just remember how you started out - as that must have made you stay. Generally people look back with fondness on the early level exploring, the unknown of how the game works, meeting new people and doing the story.
