crazy results then - did you happen to watch and remember relative CPU loading between the tests?
it's also possible whatever caused your crashes was also suppressing your scores beforehand, but either way, grats to you and your new numbers.
about the recommended specs: I'm pretty sure whoever did that page confused the minimum and recommended settings or the minimum and recommended specifications, since there's no way the settings proposed require a 460, no matter how awful the optimization is
Nope, sorry.
It's entirely possible, and might be the sole reason as for why I'm getting those numbers but anyway Windows 7 and I was never a love story. Wish Microsoft would release a really basic and lightweight OS because that's all I care about.it's also possible whatever caused your crashes was also suppressing your scores beforehand, but either way, grats to you and your new numbers.
Anyway, moving on, just felt like sharing this gem. My beta experience was already beyond awesome on 7.
This was done on a 22" monitor (max res 1650x1080) which is why the high is cut off.. I'll be getting a 24" eventually but don't have the beans right now.
Edit: also I just got a EVGA GTX460 1gig today so I'll post those results soon.
Spoiler: heug pics!!Spoiler: show
4x MSAA (could probably do 8x), FoD on, AO off (since it looks more glitchy than anything, it's bearable with it on but the lag feeling is bad and it makes FPS cap at like 25 on my build.) / Windowed / Lowest Shadow for now.
Same settings but on 1080p (played for like 30 mins? Not a fan of hueg) gave me a very similar experience as in low, but with AO on it was terribad.
Interesting stuff

So I decided to install the new Nvidia drivers today. My FFXIV benchmark score dropped 300 points on high. What is up with that? I find it amusing that nvidia says they increased performance with the new drivers while it would appear mine have drop. I am getting the 470 today. I wonder what kind of benchmark improvements Ill get out of it compared to my 9800GTX+
From what I've seen... 4x MSAA and 8x MSAA in this game, performance wise, is hardly noticeable. If you can run 4x fine go to 8x for sure. AO as you mentioned is very buggy and I could not get FPS higher than 25 in the fields. DoF doesn't seem to require as much resources as AO - so I'm playing with it on atm. Still capping FPS in the fields.
Don't... just don't raise your Buffer Size to Double. It literally halved my FPS but the game looked so shiny.
Just spotted this.

Anyone who is in the beta tried to play Linux + Wine?
Psh, casuals.

So I've been re-running the benchmark the past few days, and can not get my previous score of 3700/4000~ for the life of me...Every single time I run it now I get around 3300 on High and around 3600 on low. Ran defrag, closed any unnecessary programs/processes...to no avail. All parts are the same...it really shouldn't be bothering this much, but for some reason..it is. : (
Damn I need to push this 5850 harder. I'd like to be a little closer to 5k on high. Probably not possible.;/
People in the 4000ish high range: How does the game play with certain settings? Still able to cap FPS for the most part?
Such a nice computer you'd think he/she'd know how to capture a video that's not shit.
