I guess I just need to get a used Q6600 for ~100. Dual core just isn't cutting it for this benchmark.
Posted these comparison screenshots wayyyyyy back:

I mean you could probably get the same results if you overclock the shit out of a dualcore but I was just running stock. I think my end result on low was like 1,000 points lower as well with 2 cores.
Okies...so during beta I was having some issues with lagging while characters were loading in the game...I'd run next to someone and start "stuttering." Sure you all know about this problem...
Had everything in the game turned down too..
ATI HD 5700 series, 4GB Ram, QuadCore...can't really say much more off the top of my head...
Got a 3.2k on the benchmark.
Anyway to tweak a fix? Or...is this related to server lag...
I'm not really sure what the problem is because my friend has the same graphics card..similar setup...but his game runs smooth as butter under the same conditions. :\
I have 10.6 version of the ATI drivers..
Any help would be amazing<3
note: sorry if a similar question was asked, I couldn't find it.![]()
The stuttering when other characters come on the screen is the game and not your hardware. it happens to me with almost the similar setup and a friend of mine has the same problem with a far better PC than me.
3200 means you should be able to play without ANY SLOWDOWN on normal settings. SE just needs to get their engine right or this ends like WAR.
Ah. See I wasn't sure. I thought it was the game too because when I was in the instanced areas it was fine smooth as ever. And then my friend's setup works well...so it contradicted wanted a second opinion. I had also heard of people tweaking their CCC stuff to fix it too...so I was just wondering if anyone knew.
Thanks for clearing that up for me. Guess I will just have to wait or I could just utilize my SLI...
long story short: (NVIDA pissed me off so I said f-em! ..thus the single ATI card.. >< )
Yes I know. I was just curious if anyone had found some kind of temp. fix. :\Known Issues thread on the beta forums
And the partial measures... didn't work... >< it was just min or max.
Its definitly the game.
We also tried to put the resoltion down to 1024x768 and its still the same.
Limsa Lominsa is absolutly unplayable with FPS drops as low as 2 - 10 when alot of players are loaded.
I haven't really been following this thread for a while, but does anyone know if SLI/Crossfire is now active in the Beta? Back in Alpha I used to experience loads of lag (especially around people), but now I get virtually none, no matter how many people are on my screen and/or loading. I have a GTX295 so from what I understand it relies heavily on the whole SLI dealy.
A guy named staryoshi did a controlled test of a Superclocked GTX-460 1GB in the FFXIV benchmark (among other things) up against an overclocked HD 5770.
It won't let me post the link here, but the scores were GTX460: L - 4768 H - 2770. HD5770: L - 4638 H - 2619.
This was with an i7 860.
The scores are telling... the 460 crushes the 5770 in everything except FFXIV, where they're practically equal.
It's further evidence that there's something seriously wrong with this benchmark, but that doesn't mean that the final game won't have the same problem. I think people were saying that the beta has the opposite performance gap between Nvidia and ATI cards... hopefully they'll straighten out both sides by launch.
If you drop the "http" part from the link (may need to drop the "www." part too), you should be able to link it. I'd be interested in seeing this.
My bet is this is a combination of the 460 being a new card and the drivers aren't 100% flushed out, along with FFXIV not playing nicely with Nvidia cards.

Currently have NVIDIA GeForce 9100 but looking to bump to an ATI 57xx before ffxiv launch- anyone running something similar?
Suggestions are appreciated
Got my Sapphire 5870 Vapor-x in today and replaced my 275GTX, this was the result:

Spoiler: show
Ran the benchmark flawlessly and no driver issues so far that I've run into. Driver Sweeper did the trick nicely. Now to see if it hates FFXI as much as my old card did.
edit: Hooray, ATI apparently runs FFXI better than my old Nvidia card!
