depends on how you define top of the line. the 600s are newer and have hyperthreading enabled (For 4 logical cores, 2 true cores) but only a 4MB L3 cache. they also put integrated video onchip, which, while a nice feature, is totally gratuitous for most gamers since they'll have a discrete card. (The onboard video is HTPC quality only, not gaming.)
the i5 600s also have higher clock speeds, but clock isn't everything - especially when you're looking at 4 real cores vs 4 logical cores and the i5-750s overclock as well as they do.
between the two I'd still recommend an i5 750 (which is a quad core) to any gamer, but the 600s are certainly worthy chips for other users. the i5 750 is still a good budget choice for someone looking for quad core gaming parts.
