It worked in the exact same way in Phase 2 as I described above, so nothing was changed.

have you guys tried the city yet?
Have everything pegged to highest except no AA
Getting 15-30 FPS in Limsa Lominsa with i7 920 @ 4GHZ and 5970 at 5870 speeds both GPU's are working identically
not sure if it's server-side or what
Changes in shadows/settings have not really netted any different effect for me - so I'm thinking it has something to do with the client
This shit is pushing my GPU higher than furmark temps, and I crashed with my max OC thats stable in everything else. No big D and ill just overclock a tad less, but any other fermis notice anything?
i still cant notice a diff w/ AO on or off in those pics.. well the diff is so insignificant I don't see the purpose. Nice to know about the temps. If they dont allow SLI ill need to OC mine (though from the sounds of how demanding the game is... it seems like it has to be added for retail)
Its insane really, I'm usually 10-20'C cooler than torture test maxes with games. I have an aftermarket cooler, BFBC2 doesnt break 65'C and most everything tops off below 70. Pushing 85'C with this shit x.x
I crashed as well, but my settings where pretty aggressive for what i've been able to test. Also the crash seemed to mess something up where with afterburner running xiv would crash as soon as I tried to start it. Un/reinstalled afterburner and seems to be working (after royally dicking around with the xiv install thinking that was what got hosed).
If 15-30 fps is what I'm going to see retail with settings maxed and no AA on an i7 920 at 4ghz and 5970 at 5870 speeds I might have to invest in a 990x and trifire.
I doubt this is right though. My crossfire is working as both my gpus are pegged, oddly I don't see any fps difference from enabling or disabling crossfire to 1 gpu
You have ambient occlusion on? That shit is useless and seems to be a major resource hog still.
It's AA too. With it off I'm 80-120 FPS, with it on even 4x I'm around 40-45. No noticeable performance hit from there jumping to 16x, but 0->4x cuts my FPS in half.
AO is useless for negligible differences. What would be less resource intensive: AAx4 or CAAx8? From what I read the CAA is less intensive or equal to MSAAx4, but dunno
Tweak eyeball tests facing the same rock cliff and logging in/out:
Max everything, 1920x1200, No AA, AO off = 80ish FPS
AA on (any AA, doesnt matter which) = 40ish FPS
AA off again, AO on = 40ish FPS
AA on, AO on = High teens
AA on, AO on, Buffer Size set to Double = 3.3 FPS
That decimal is in the right place. Rofl, 4500 on the High benchmark sure goes a long way!
Game is single GPU retarded now, i dont know how else to put it. I was thinking about OCing my 480 if the game doesnt allow SLI for retail... bit its alrdy pushing 93% speed at 90-94c temps at places.. for stock.. wtf lol
I'm running stock right now and my temps are still higher than they should be. Somethings def wrong with the game + Fermi's right now temp wise.
Did they unlock the fps from 30?
After quite a few hours of experimenting, I've found the best way to maintain a steady 30 FPS in the most crowded areas is to turn off AA and Depth of Field. These two slaughter my FPS. Texture quality and filtering seem to have little effect. Increasing the window-size is the best way to refine and smooth out your graphics without bringing on the lag. I quite enjoyed Fullscreen at 1600x1024 windowsize (any higher and I could see it effecting FPS).
I could further increase performance by turning off shadows and extended drawing ingame. I'm able to stay above 35 FPS in the most crowded areas, often 40 (following AA and DoF, Extended Drawing is a big factor). But I don't think this is a sacrifice I'm interested in making, especially when you cannot see noticeable lag at 30. The extended drawing is too nice an addition to do without.
I find those recommended settings by SE to be sadistically high for the specs they gave. 4x Multisampling, DoF On... I can barely stay above 10 FPS in crowded areas with that shit on.
At 1280x1024 with everything ON except shadows and AO I get a solid 60 fps in outsides, with a little stuttering, but in city I have a lot of stuttering and jumping framerates. Turning AA OFF did not help that much.
Now I know my CPU bottlenecks my graphic card (a Q6600 at stock speed with a GTX460) but its strange how stable seems to be in outsides and some parts of the city, and is not like i have constant low fps in city, just a lot of jumps (between 20 and 60).
Lag could help, I was everytime in yellow connection. And maybe the heat too lol
