30" monitor?
30" monitor?
27, using it currently on my old rig. It's huge
Nice camera work with the mirrorDidn't even notice for at first glance lol.
You moving the side fan to the top and putting the new LED one on the side? Thats what I did on mine when I built it last week. It looks good.
ThanksYup moving it to the side and moving the black one to top.
Pictures were taken with D300s, just used JPEG to minimize post processing work lol
He is right that 2x460 > 2x5850. Always and consistently, it's not even a question. Here's a nice article about it: http://hardocp.com/article/2010/08/0...on_hd_5850_cfx
But for single GPU 5850 is almost always better, I just buy the best single card I can afford and OC it, so sli/cf doesn't mean much to me. I got my 5850 almost at 5870 speeds.
Last time before reports, take it to tech. Nobody cares about the bickering, stay relevant to FFXIV here. I only commented because he posted a link and then contradicted the conclusion made by the same article.
Score 5147, will upload pic after I get 9 more posts >.>
ATI 5870
Core i7 930
High Res
Nice score ArnelYou tried it on low res with your cpu that high?
![]()
No, was only interested in the High Res, took me a while to get my computer stable and under 75 c under full load for that. Wish I had the money/time for a real water cool kit ; ; I'll probably run it tomorrow, going to bed now.
So in building a laptop, which I have absolutely no idea how to do besides reading guides on google, I have come up with the current setup. I have three questions within my spec descriptions pertaining to Processor, video card and memory upgrades. If someone would care to shed a little light on whether this is a good setup or if anyone has had any issues with these compnents.
Alienware 15X
PROCESSOR Intel® Core™ i7 740QM Quad Core Processor, 1.73GHz (2.93GHz Turbo Mode, 6M Cache. I could upgrade to the Intel® Core™ i7 840QM Quad Core Processor, 1.86GHz (3.20GHz Turbo Mode, 6M Cache) for an extra 300$, but I'd have to cut costs elsewhere. If anyone thinks its a good idea to upgrade here and downgrade one of my other specs, please let me know.
OPERATING SYSTEM Genuine Windows® 7 Ultimate, 64bit, English
VIDEO CARD- I was kind of confused when looking at video cards. Either I'm illiterate or my information is flawed, but through my research numerous people have debated whether the 1GB GDDR5 ATI Radeon™ Mobility HD 5850 or the 1GB GDDR3 NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 260M is better. I was assuming there was a reason that the GeForce was 100$ more, but when I look at the GPU benchmark tables, the ATI Radeon 5850 is several ratings higher. If someone could clear that up for me that'd be great.
LCD PANEL- 15.6-inch WideFHD 1920x1080 (1080p) WLED
MEMORY- 6GB Memory (1x 2GB, 1x 4GB DDR3). However, the 8GB Dual Channel Memory (2x 4GB DDR3) is the next upgrade and isnt really that much more money. Would it be wise to get the 8GB dual or would it not really make a noticeable difference?
HARD DRIVE 256GB SSD - Samsung Solid State Drive

Price $3529.99 including carious programs (Adobe Package, Miscrosoft Student, etc.) I'd like to keep the price around 3500 or under. I appreciate all the help![]()
Question:
Dl'ed the benchmark got the error (d3dx9_41) that is on the first page so I google'd the error thing that someone had posted (dxwebsetup.exe) so I dl'ed that then instaled it. Started up the benchmark and it crashed can any1 help me please? It gives no reason for the crash. My laptop is brand new g73 so it shouldn't have a problem running this thing.
Update your drivers if you haven't. Usually fixes it.
I checked drivers says I have the latest version but Ill give it a go again.
do what it says... let me give u a hint.. dx9
OC'd my card (5850) by about 10% and am getting ~4400 on high, without OC its around ~3800
Gonna keep fucking around with it, maybe get more![]()
K I finally got it to work but I must be doing something wrong cause my score on low is terrible I think... score is 1711 load time is 47722. The reason I picked up the G73jh is because I looked at the first page scores and toxictaru and blackomega had the i720 and 5870M. and there scores were decent for a laptop but 1711 on low is just sad i think.
I changed my RAM timings as suggested and now im getting a much lower score 2200~ and the load time is up 24,000~ now![]()
