Hey guys. Anyone play the beta that has a 5970? If so how did it play on 1920x1080? Did you have to turn down some eye candy? I was hoping to get 60 FPS outside of towns (I know that towns will take a big performance hit). I know Evanos has a 5970 and said it played good but I would like to hear that from a couple different people to ease my worries. I only got 3800 on the bench as it only uses 1 GPU. So I was wondering how it plays in game. Did the new profile ATI released on Wednesday do anything to allow for crossfire? Let me know. Thanks a lot

I was able to get 60 FPS outside on 1920x1080 with AA/DoF/AO off Textures on max, shadows on standard with a HD5770. I was able to get 100~ FPS with both cards when cap wasn't as harsh.

You'll be set as long as they sort out CF issues, and probably still ok if they don't.

you're doing it right, gpu OC is very simple, no suggestions for you besides stopping

ATI FPS stay pretty high, so you don't need to worry there. What kind of CPU do you have though. With my 5870 I got 4100 and don't have the greatest CPU.

If things stay the way they are I'm going to end up selling my 460 and going to ati if/when prices drop. I will miss cuda though(coreavc)

I guess that's about what most of the GTX460 are scoring atm. Well maybe the game will run somehow at low settings at least. Though I'll probably OC the CPU a bit when I get over this lazyness.

You scored like..right around me. I was around 3730s on Low and 2700s on High with Phenom II X3 720 @3.2GHz and a 460 at 750/1500. Granted that's a very slight OC, but I really don't have the proper cooling to really push it. Still though.. on 1680x1050, High/Highest, 2X AA.. I'd get around 45-55 FPS out in the fields with vegetation, didn't try caves so I really don't know there, and around 15-25 FPS in town/the tavern/around aetherite with the stuttering you also experienced. I'm guessing it's more optimization that's the issue there. The 460 is a beast of a card.

It was with a mix of drivers (10.4, 10.7 and 10.8b mainly). And a single card could get to 60 FPS in field (anywhere except crystals, they lag as bad as they do in 11), could get near 60 in town on that single day where it wasn't laggy for some reason.

What is wrong with 460 right now? And funny you say you'll miss CUDA, I miss ATI stream/avivo... they have the most simple yet insanely fast video conversion ever (45min clips get done in 3 minutes) and it's free with CCC drivers. You know any consumer-grade video conversion apps that take advantage of CUDA? Only one I know of is badaboom but it's not compatible with ant Fermis yet, only other option would be something like adobe premier, which is overkill for me as it's meant for professional video editing, I just want to do fast GPU-accelerated conversions.

nVidia cards arn't that great compared to ATI cards for FFXIV currently (460 is benching similar scores to a 5770, and that shouldn't happen)

What jojimbo said. Nero move it, and some other thing tht I can't remember will use cuda to convert video. I only use it for playback though, since CoreAVC only supports nvidia.

Hmm, I googled Nero move it review and they were comparing it to badaboom and espresso, so I will try nero and espresso, espresso is by cyberlink though... they suck major ass, but we'll see.

I picked up a GTX 460 1GB and have been getting 2700ish high 3700ish low
I was a little disappointed with the score, but it seems to be around what people are getting here :\
My rig is q6600 @ 2.8ghz
6gig ddr2-800 ram
vista 64bit
my old card (gtx 9800+) scored 2200ish high 3700 low

With 1 460 I get 3000 on high, but that 300 difference is probably because I'm an i7@ 4ghz, with 2 460's I get 5400 on high, which is only like 500 less than people with 2x470s. So I dunno, it's been worth it for me.

It's definitely not enough oomph for me as a single card though, but it's so cheap to SLI them.

BTW espresso seemed to work just as well as ATI's video converter /shocked. However... it does use CPU... 45% cpu, when ATI's converter is running CPU is 0-1%, still great though converted 23 wmvs of ~35 min average length to divx in 18 minutes

And me putting my 2 weeks in at work today, listening to my husband already putting together a new computer for me... (Granted, I do need a new one since I do heavy duty art/business on this computer and my hard drive's been a bitch the last 6 months or so)
