Yeah, my stuttering was for something like a 1/3 or 1/2 second as well, maybe not quite as bad to the degree that you describe, but certainly more than enough to make the game feel like it something was wrong. Can you walk me through what I'd need to do to check the same process info on my system as you have in your screenshot, and I can check to see what, if anything, happens?

As far as beta, I'm running on SSD's in RAID0, however the benchmark and ff beta are on my 10,000rpm HDD. Currently everything runs great, with just the usual beta issues.
Just wondering if anyone else is running the beta on 10,000rpm drive? I'll be running the game off a brand new 600GB Raptor and interested to know if anyone has had any issues like the stuttering with one?

your talk's big chump Leaderboard hasnt been updated since months ago (and it wont be updated) You have to compete with those of us who have 980x, SLI'ed hydro copper 480s, all OC'ed to the extent our WC allows. Benchmark eats up SLI too. That is right ^.~ I have screenshots of scores that dwarf the leader board (as do others) but you dont see our names unless we stomp this talk!

But, I'm glad to see another high roller enjoying a flawless beta while others complain about lag and stuttering.

I run the beta on SSD (SLI 2x480), 10k rpm in Raid0 (280), and a 7200 rpm (SLI 2x480), none of them stutter.

So w/ fixing the default, 2nd card stuck around 40% load, while crisis pushed it to 90%? Havent tested the SLI settings yet, but plan to use Crysis settings for retail.

Stuttering is a GPU issue. All a better HD will do is decrease load times and potentially make characters / mobs load faster. It won't affect NM camping pops and stuff.. well unless there is massive amounts of ppl camping one thing. But even then its 95% on your ping

Good to know, SSD all good but would still be fairly disappointed if a raptor couldnt keep up. Yeah I was going to say something about the leaderboard stopping about 3000 posts ago but I'm too polite lol . My best on high was 5318 from I7-930 at about 3.9 or higher (GPU capped there), single gigabyte super overclock 5870 and 12gigs ddr3-1600ish CL7 ram.

I have another 480 coming soon as well as a shopping cart full of parts for my water cooled setup. I was going to purchase a 980x but it didn't feel worth it, especially with the 999 right around the corner.

And I know there are people with higher scores than leaderboard, I was referring to current one which lists 5k at the highest. Because it's kinda lame to me that I only got to 4500 on first try, thought it would be higher with cpu at 4.2. Oh well, gonna try again after I hit 4.5, and hopefully I can run stable long enough at 5ghz to run the benchmark before I bsod lol.

Also looking for a good price on a 280 or higher for physx. My SSD's are in RAID0, but have yet to put anything besides WoW on them lol. I wonder if it'll make a difference.

meh, watercooling is too big of a Pita for somebody like me. But if XIV blows up my SLI'd 480's I may need to sell them and go ahd and do just that

Just sell one. You can put a 480 on water with a pretty high end loop for about 400.

I just ran bench again on my RAID0 SSD drive and hit 5k score, so for anyone interested thats about a 500score difference on bench going from HDD>SSD. The game of course runs WAY better on it, bench doesn't do that enough justice.

My best on high was 5318 from I7-930 at about 3.9 or higher (GPU capped there), single gigabyte super overclock 5870 and 12gigs ddr3-1600ish CL7 ram.
This is what bothers me, cause I still have a low score for 4.2ghz and a 480, not really sure how to enhance it more before I sli and go on water. Curious to see how much unplugging a monitor would help but I'm lazy. I'm running 6gb of ram currently in triple channel @1463ish.

I still want to see the gtx 485 and AMD southern islands before I take the GTX 480 furnace set up.

my stutter isnt that bad. It doesnt get to freezing but the framerate is all over the place.

I'm also using a WD 7200rpm caviar black (mentioned specifically by someone else who had the stutter)
yup, thats me. I think I have a little less stuttering than with my old seagate barracuda, but I still have a lot of it in the city.

EDIT: Guys, do you think AMD cool and quiet can make the game have a little worse performance? I dont think so, cause my CPU was always at 3,2 while gaming, but asking just in case. Im new to AMD..

Just download process explorer: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/s.../bb896653.aspx run it as admin, run ffxiv, double click on ffxivgame or whatever it's called in process explorer and click on the threads tab. Then venture out to wherever you normally see the stuttering and see if that nvkdlmmblahblah starts using up your cpu time.

It actually seems to be a driver issue that causes high hdd usage and freezes the game until it gets the data from the drive. Fix it by either magically knowing the correct nvidia driver to use or just be lucky, switch to ATI(what another poster did), or buy an SSD(what I did).

It shouldn't make the game have worse performance at all

this is with a single 470 and a 930 OC to 4.1 ghz and ssd really does improve stutter even going from benchmark on my old 7200 to a gskill phoenix 120 gig was amazing.
I run the beta with 2 470's 6 gigs of ram and the cpu at 4.1 with max graphics at ~50 fps and by towns and crystals 35 and runs smooth as hell

Just ran the Benchmark with a low score of...

    2358

    HP
    AMD Athlon II x4 630 2.8 GHz
    8 GB RAM
    Windows 7 Home premium 64
    ATI Radeon 5770
    750 GB HD

Was a little disappointed but I'm sure it will run the game just fine. The scene looked gorgeous and didn't stutter one bit

I'm new to a lot of this, no idea how to overclock- this is the first time I bought a nice GFX card.

Has anyone tried new nvidia beta drivers? Someone on another forum claims it improves performance noticeably, I'm skeptical of course.

I did, it didn't do anything at all for me, exact same fps in the exact same location with same camera angle etc etc.

I just tried to overclock using that catalyst CCC Advanced and got about the same score.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good overclock software. I DL'd Riva tuner but the function to adjust didn't propagate...
