    8gigs of ram
    high res score was ~3100
    low res score ~4400
    Nothing overclocked

Now then. I realize I should have bought an ATI card, as I can't crossfire with Nvidia. 5870s are going for around the same price as my 470 and it looks like they are getting much higher scores. This thread is really making me want to send back my 470.

I wouldn't send it back just yet. Give nVidia a chance to tweak the drivers. That's one of the unfortunate consequences of buying brand new technology...the hardware is there, but the software frequently doesn't support it as well as it could. Based on hardware alone, the 470 is a solid card that will serve you well. Just needs some driver tweaking to make it vroom like it should.

that and a core i7 would get you a better score with a gtx470

the OP (cel) uses an older intel chip Q6600 (dualcore i think) w/ a gtx 470 and scored 3574 on high @ 3.0ghz

I would say its your CPU and not your GPU as the bottle neck, that and if your running stock ghz (whatever it is) that might help you get a better score if you OC it

To all you guys overclocking, as i stated in a couple earlier posts i plan on O/Cing to 4.0GHZ+ on my core i7 920, so now i am gonna as which cooler you guys think would be best for this situation. I picked 2 out that i will probably go with unless someone can tell me about one that i missed, I am looking to not spend more then 150$ and both of these fall under this price range.

AIR : Noctua DH-14 Air cooler

    http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...y=noctua%20d14

WATER : Corsair H50 Water Cooler

    http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...y=#ReviewStart

if there is a different cooler you think i should look into for a 4.0ghz+ OC pls post it up.

    Cheers~

It's largely a comfort issue. Some people aren't comfortable having liquid cooling components in their rig. The Noctua cooler is a beast and I've heard great things about it and for CPU only, either/or would be a great option in terms of what it'll do for your temperatures. Main thing is, if you go the Noctua route you need to make sure you have a case big enough to contain it ;D

i kinda wana know how the game will perform with it since i plan n getting one in the future.

i know for gaming its suposed to be a little lower than intels range of the same specs but my rig isnt gone be used for gaming only so i just wanna know performance wise.

    feed back is welcomed tho
    here's what i got folks.

Really, I'm not sure why it's all i7 this, i7 that. Sure, they have hyper-threading. That's about all it can do better than my processor. Hyper-threading is overrated. There must be something I'm missing.

    There's a lot you're missing, I suspect.

First off from your original comment, you can SLI with any motherboard with enough PCI slots if you know what you're doing. Even if it's not "SLI compatible" as most AMD boards aren't, you can make it in about 30 seconds.

Secondly, your processor is just as fast as any quad i7.. so ignore any comments that say it isn't. The difference is minuscule in most everything (except your wallet) and will be completely unnoticeable in this particular bench as you can't run multi-GPU. Case in point, run with a 5870+your CPU. Showing 5870 since it's the most popular card on the board and is frequently paired with i7s for comparison.

And like Eyedea said, I scored 500 points higher than you with the same GPU and an ancient CPU. Your score is almost certainly attributed to user error, you can start the troubleshooting process by giving your clocks.

    Thanks for the 1090T results.
gues im cool with buying those.

im curious i know the ASUS CROSSHAIR IV FORMULA isnt sli compatible but you state it can be made SLI compatible. how would i do that.

at the moment im leaning toward an ATI card for my budget of 200Euros max for a GPU. but 3d is intriguing.

Thanks for the resutls guys. i wish we had newegg here in europe lol.

EDIT: i think i7s win atm because hyper-treading is better used in games but in other apps the X6 will be somewhat better for the comparable priced i7/i5
but yea that also has to do with the fact that most games arent optimized for multicores and in FFXIVs case more than 4 cores
besides the 1090T can be(and well are made to be) easily and safely OCd to 4GHZ because they run really cool.

I overclocked the crap out of my 3780's. Increased the temp by about 20 degrees C. Gave me an extra 30 points on the benchmark. Fuckkkk that, I'll keep it low.

I also see a hockey fan in the above screenshot!

Some people seem to be jumping the gun a bit...Tanaka has already said that the benchmark is a bit more dependent on the GPU then they would like, and would be adjusting it.

Unfortunately, I'm on vacation so I can't say for sure what my clocks are at. As for using the hacked drivers for SLI on my Crossfire board: how well do they work? And I don't really want to mess around with overclocking that much. My computers seem to break down with me not doing any tinkering with it and I'm not sure that I want to speed that up. I also checked newegg's return policy and I'm not allowed to return my GPU. gg newegg wp

You mean CPU. He said it's bottlenecking on the GPU.

More like.. ffxiv isn't using enough cpu power for full potential ;/

you can just watch cpu history on high and only use like.. 20-25% cpu on an I7 930

scores would probably be 8000+ if on 4-6core+ cpu's were being used at or near 100%

Like the video coder I have lets me select how many threads to encode with..

If I use 4threads 6min (30fps) video takes 30-40min... all 8 threads it takes like 5-6min for the same video
