Probably not unless your running eyefinity with like 6 monitors at some 2560×1600 res per monitor at max settings or something crazy

The current one is actually pretty pointless as it is. Beta should give us a better idea of how XIV loads our systems.

Judging by the FPS I receive in the bench compared to other games, and how I run the alpha compared to friends with ranging hardware.. it seems to be fairly accurate and indicative of performance and how the game will run on your system.

As for 8k vs. 10k, you wouldn't notice a difference. Just keep in mind that anything higher than 6000 on high is modded at this point in time and not a legitimate score. And because of this you can't say with certainty that these scores accurately reflect performance.

Just wait until Besieged or Dynamis comes out and you'll be wanting that 10k over 8k. Heck, the old benchmark ran great, but didn't even compair to the traffic you'd see at the Lower Jueno AH. This benchmark needs to have a scene with more stuff going on to get a better indication of what actual performance is going to be like. How often are you going to be in an area with only a hand full of people just sitting around. Maybe the alpha is like that now with the limited number of people, but that is just going to get more populated. You have to take the number with a grain of salt.

TL;DR whole thread, but i have a problem with the benchmark. I get to the bit after selecting race and resolution etc. i start it up get the programme opening but windows are all black then get a crash report and benchmark automatically closes. Does this mean my PC isn't good enough or is the programme badly installed or maybe someting else completely?

Yea. Everything except what Windows needs to run. Would Symantec Endpoint Protection have anything to do with it? It shouldn't since I've never had a problem doing anything that wasn't harmful on my computer without it affecting anything before :\

    iMac Bootcamp Score

    http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...LowFFXIV-1.png

I couldn't really figure out how to crop (tired, lulz). I FINALLY got the benchmark to run after changing my graphics driver to a ATI "Mobility" Radeon HD 4850. My actual graphics card is just the regular ATI Radeon HD 4850; the "Mobility" is the laptop version. For some reason, the coding wouldn't allow me to run it with the regular graphics driver under Bootcamp. Note: This test was on a Bootcamp of Windows 7 Enterprise on an iMac! I'm not sure if PC's have this same problem, which I doubt they do given some of other responses.

    System Specs:

OS: Bootcamp Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit
    CPU: Quad i7 860 @ 2.8GHz
    Motherboard: Apple
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 4850 (using a "Mobility" driver)
    Storage: 250GB (197GB free) / 750GB partitioned Mac OSX
    Audio: Cirrus Logic CS4206A

Has anyone run the benchmark with ASUS N61JQ-X1 http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16834220696 laptop or something similar? is there any $1000 laptop that gets a decent score or is ff14 looking to be PS3 and desktop only?

    Thanks

you'd need a near and or over $2000+ laptop to get something in the 4000 on high score, that laptop you pointed out would probably be near the 1000's

    http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/X...me_S1_Notebook
this should get you "near" 4000 (but I'm guessing more like 3000-3500 range because of the video card)

Although it does have a change video card option to a good one (add $550 to laptop price) and it will get a 4000+ score I'm sure.

Although you can get a pretty decked out PC for the price your looking at for that laptop with that video card

wonder if the game will work with SLI, it sucks having a GTX 295 right now for this benchmark, its worst than having a 275/280/285 or any good radeon.

Also wondering if they will 16:10 for stereo 3d, after all, the first 3d monitor came with this resolution (samsung 2233rz).

Did you guys see the annoucement for crysis 2 3d? They said that you dont lose performance when using it, that they have a "little magic" for it.. hope ff14 can update to this "magic" once everyone knows how to do it.

Right now when you use 3d you lose at least 40% of your fps, no matter which vga or game.

I think its kind of hilarious that they don't support SLI/Crossfire. You'd think it would be standard these days for games. Its a step up at least from FFXI which never used the graphics processor. FFXIV will use only ONE! Maybe FFXVIII will allow us to use TWO! But by then we'll probably be using 8 or something, some people are already using 4.

SE really fails when it comes to graphics processors. They rely too much on the main processor.
