I should be OK, huh?
Thanks for the suggestion, $2200 is out of my budget at the moment

is a slight upgrade on the previous Asus i posted don't know if its much of an improvement GTS 360M instead of the radeon 5730.
The modding is very smart, but don't want to have to lug around an extra psu and card to get decent 3D out of it.
what do you think is cheaper to get? a PS3 or a decent computer capable of handling 14?
true enough.
The "you must spend 1k+" thing is complete bunk, sorry.
Build your own $550 gaming PC
You can cut that $550 figure down significantly if you peruse sites like slickdeals.net and jump on good deals. 500 bucks can make you a machine far, far more potent than a PS3 if you know what you're doing.
All you really need is one of the new Intel iX chips and a good video card. I mean, how long has some of those items been on market now? Get with the program. I understand getting good deals, but if you're just going to be a cheap skate on PC parts, save yourself the FFXIV launch headache and get a PS3.
Is anyone else having problems where the benchmarker crashes?
I try to run it on Low setting and right before it loads up my whole PC just crashed and restarts..
XP Pro SP3
PC Specs are below... Any ideas?

Just to add
MOBO: ASUS P5K
Memory: 4GB DDR2
The Benchmark is buggy. I had to use a Mobility graphics driver to even get the benchmark to run on my iMac desktop on W7. I think it just has something to do with the benchmark not supporting some ATI Radeon HD cards. Mine is an ATI Radeon HD 4850. Try going onto the ATI site and finding the mobility driver for your same desktop graphics and installing it. It should run then.
I'm pretty sure FFXIV final release will support the card. I think the benchmark was just poorly coded, imo.
Ye i even tried the DLL suggestion and still nothing.
Im involved in the Alpha and that runs fine with no problems even in the towns. Isnt the Alpha supposed to be more taxing on the final release?
Installing the mobility drivers will that effect other games i play or anything?
yo, think i could bootcamp windows 7 and play FFXIV on my macbook pro?
Ok I don't know much about computers. My laptop plays steam games and FFXI pretty well, but my benchmark for XIV was 300-350. These are my specs. Is there anything I can do to make it run better? Or am I screwed.

The mobility driver for your current card is just a basically downgraded version of the current driver you have. It will slightly affect graphics performance (i.e. - you won't get your true performance from your graphics card). I wouldn't bother downgrading if you're in Aplha or Beta and can run FFXIV on your current drivers.
@mintyice: What are your MBP specs?
