This is rly not optimized well on the 480, characters/mobs keep dissapearing from certain angles, nothing shows up w/ Ambient Occlusion enabled, ect

Same thing with the 470. It may be a driver issue, or it may be with everybody. Who knows. Can't use Ambient Occlusion because no character/NPC textures show up. It still works because it's the only time I'm not hardlocked at 30FPS, but obviously not of much use if you cant see anybody.
Few screens for Depth of Field.
Max settings + Ambient Occlusion (hence no character):

Same as above, just to show DoF again:

Not sure if I like it. It looks better for textures in the distance.. but dumbs down some other things to ugliness.
Its w/every 470/480 Celeras, ppl on the forums are pretty pissed about it. how did u get ur character to show up? I just have a horrible time of it from basically any angle.
what program u use to show that on the top of the screen?
Just turned off Ambient Occlusion. It flickers a bit without it, but its there the majority of the time.
What program u using to show the fps in the upper left corner?
Afterburner
Interesting read but that is what it does.
Wiki: Ambient Occlusion
"Ambient occlusion is a shading method used in 3D computer graphics which helps add realism to local reflection models by taking into account attenuation of light due to occlusion. Ambient occlusion attempts to approximate the way light radiates in real life, especially off what are normally considered non-reflective surfaces.
Unlike local methods like Phong shading, ambient occlusion is a global method, meaning the illumination at each point is a function of other geometry in the scene. However, it is a very crude approximation to full global illumination. The soft appearance achieved by ambient occlusion alone is similar to the way an object appears on an overcast day."
TL;DR: Basically makes light reflect off of objects depending upon an outside light source. Moon/Sun/Lamps/magic/combat etc. Protect making everyone glow blue and other curing spells hitting surround players with light will be pretty awesome.
What are your PC specs like, Celeras?
x4 955 @ 3.4 ghz + 4870 runs like shit, can't even run my native resolution. Thinking about a GFX upgrade, or is my processor weak for this as well?
15-20 FPS on 1280x768
What are your settings and native resolution? I have the same card and hearing this worries me a little.
1680x1050
Shadows off, dust setting off, multisampling x1, no draw distance or ambient occlusion. I'm really hoping this is a server side issue, but I know it probably isn't.
Wow, crap. That's the same native resolution I use, except I have a slower CPU. And with all those settings turned off this is definitely bad news. Here's to hoping the game performs better on release.
Something sounds quite wrong indeed. I thought running at a different resolution for the game than your windows resolution slowed down FPS? As well as not being full screened? I got a 5770 which can be overclocked to match/slightly beat a 4870 single card on some games. Looks like I'll have this problem too.
At 1680x1050 fullscreen, I get a consistent 15 fps until I enter a city or crowded area, with jumps all over the place. Certainly playable but hard to watch. I'm really thinking it's my 4870, because I bought a 512mb one -- which might explain my framerate gains when decreasing resolution. I can't say my CPU is the issue, because it's only like a year old.
Well I have a 1GB 4870. So hopefully it's just the memory on the GPU that is the issue for you. What did you manage to score on the benchmark tests?
With that said your setup is not all that amazing and neither is mine, but SE can't seriously expect the majority of prospective players to have machines that can handle this game in the state that it is. If these results stand all the way to release it's going to be painful waiting another year until I will have the money available for a brand new rig.
Edit: My own scores were 1928 and 2466 for High and Low Res respectively.
2235-2642 once I overclocked my cpu and gpu
I have aftermarket coolers for my CPU and gpu for the express purpose of over clocking. My temps are fine.
