My computer ran the game great, it was just lag and stuff here and there when there were a lot of people around (which is mainly a server problem) the only thing I noticed was screen tearing during the opening cutscene which I've heard other people getting too. Also my shadows didn't look like some kind of fishing net effect like I saw in some leaked JP pictures which was also a good thing (they looked like solid complete shadows) But otherwise i'm happy with my overall performance.
Visually though I don't like the blur for far away things... And during that bad lag going over the bridge in the city, I fell through It and took a swim (which was interesting lol)
Spec:
AMD Athlon II x2 Regor 260 OC'd @ 2.5GHz
ATI Radeon 5670 1GB GDDR5
4 GB DDR3 RAM
Windows 7 Ultimate x64
1440 x 900 Resolution
I'm wondering if anyone knows how is the dual GPU /SLI support in the beta ?
I wouldn't say its your hardware completely, seems like you have some other issues. I also have a 4870 512mb (x6 @stock 2.8 ) and I ran the beta at 1776x1000 with the same settings as you it sounds (except I had all the in game options on) and was running 20-30 depending on if I was in city or not. Im not sure which one was a bigger hit, but running with the ambient occlusion and dof turned on made me run 15-25 like yours.
Seems the 4870 can run it, but if you want top notch it ain't gonna deliver.
For nvidia multimonitor (surround vision or whatever its called) I think you need a system with 2-3 GPU's so you won't see much of a drop in framerate.
I'm currently considering having a new PC built for FFXIV with the following specs:
AMD PHENOM II X4 955 (3.20GHz/8MB CACHE/AM3) - BLACK EDITION
ASUSR M4A79XTD EVO: DUAL DDR3, S-ATA II, 2 x PCIe x16, 2 x PCIe x1, 2 x PCI
4GB SAMSUNG DDR3 DUAL-DDR3 1333MHz (2 X 2GB)
1GB ATI RADEON HD 5770 PCI EXPRESS - DirectX 11
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit
Anyone running the beta with a similar build? How does it run on the different settings?
wait, so the beta supports SLI? I thought it didn't
You think you know how to work a computer is probably closer to what you really mean.
Sure other people are having the same problem, this doesn't mean it's client side, it can just as easily mean you, and the very few other people who posted having the same problem as you, also have the same problem on your computers.
Anyway,
My computer is a piece of shit, and I was able to run with almost everything on except for Ambient Occlusion and Depth of Field, this seems to be true for several others as well.
Of course it's possible that Ambient Occlusion and/or Depth of Field is broken, turn them off, try again, did it solve your problem? hurray for you, did it not solve your problem? oh well, guess you just gotta shell out more money then or keep complaining about the client.
But seeing as how you had the ability to test this at all, log in to the beta site, then report feedback "Yeah I experienced soandso with soandso setup" you know.. so that SE can actually look into the problem, and have a reason to fix it, instead of believing that you're somehow they're going to read your brain and fix it for absolutely no reason, then again, maybe you did tell them, but I certainly didn't see the post on the feedback forums myself.
Ouch, no fair, needs 10 posts to post something with URL !
5 post would be enough.
After all those tests, no wonder PS3 got owned hard!
I tried 5760x1080 across 3 screens and my framerate was shit.
