Concerning the dips, I seem to get them during the benchmark whenever I have Afterburner running on at the same time. Not sure why it happens, but that might explain his performance.

If your CPU is bottlenecking than yeah it can be that small of a difference. To give you an idea. I have a E6400 Core 2 Duo @2.13Ghz and a 4870 and I got a 2466 on low and 1928 on high.

You obviously understand that your CPU is a bottleneck.. so connect the dots. Your CPU spits out frames at a set speed, and the GPU renders them. Your max render speed is being bottlenecked by your weak CPU on both high and low. Therefore, since your GPU is always ahead and waiting for more frames(regardless of resolution) from the CPU, your score isn't going to vary much and be indicative of your max CPU speed.

GPU usage dips, or the frame rate dips you mentioned before in the benchmark? My GPU usage is pinned at max the majority of the time on high, except for the intro sequence inside the boat+the meteor scene. Afterburner won't have any effect on this.

I wonder how accurate this bench is. I only have 2 9600GT SLI right now (but SLI disabled due to the inability to use my 3 monitors with it... so I guess 1 9600GT) and I'm hitting about 1580 in the HQ bench.

In game I'm getting capped 30fps at 1980x1050 with everything high except occulation & that distance fading thing enabled in game which shouldn't be with that low of a score.

Of course i'm running an i7 930 @3.8 w/6 gb ram. I'll be upgrading my video to a pair of 460's as those in SLI can't be beat for price/performance right now. Just waiting for EVGA to release the 1gb cards before I order them.

Yes you're right that's my bad, I was thinking of random sudden FPS drops. I only get them with Afterburner running, so I mistook it for a situation similar to mine. Thanks for that.

Hey All, Looking for a bit of help hopefully someone can assist!

Having some major trouble playing the Beta even on the lowest settings with everything turned off. Its very very choppy all the time. I thought it was originally just crowd lag in the towns but outside with nobody around im getting it too

I know there have been adjustments since the Alpha but that ran so smooth for me i find it odd that there is a huge difference in perfmorance, especially in the towns and i was in Alpha before multiple servers where added.

Anyways any suggestions what it might be? i know its no beast of a machine but its just not playable in these conditions! Iv updated to the latest drivers for my gfx.

Should i try OC the CPU? Ram is kind of limited at 3.25gb due to XP 32 bit even though i have 4gb. Below is my score on the benchmark aswell as my specs. Thanks

    - On certain AMD (ATI) graphics cards, the FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version may run slowly.

Hmmm where did you find that quote? Missed it sorry.

So basically there is no solution at present? Other than a new card of course

"Known Issues" in the Beta forums.

There is no solution until SE optimizes the game further. I have the same problem with my 5770, but it's bearable with all settings in minimum fortunately.

If SE doesn't want to exclude potentially 50% of their PC playerbase, I think they will fix the issue in time.

    I wouldn't be worried :D.

I have a in Electric in room AC that i have on all the time since i live in an appartment on the 8th floor, and its hot as shit up here but with it + the fan at 100% on the GPU that was my score.....I was gonna say everyone talks of heat issues they have with the GTX400 cards, i have had mine for a couple days and ran the Bench while i had Prime95 going at the same time and found that my highest was about 73c over all the ambient room temp is probably at 19-20c so its pretty low and i have my PC in the right spot, Low but off the ground (about 1/2foot from the floor).

So just checking over the current reccomended PC hardware requirements for FF14 and my CPU & RAM seem fine for whats required.

[ PC Minimum Requirepments: Windows XP/Vista/7, Intel Core 2 Duo 2GHz or AMD Athlon X2 2GHz, 2GB of RAM, 15GB HDD space, NVIDIA GeForce 9600 512MB or ATI Radeon HD 2900 512MB and DirectX 9.]

I was going to invest in a new machine (i need to do it at some point) but thinking about it money is very tight and i think ill just wait a while. Obviously my GFX needs an update so any suggestions on what i should get? Not too expensive but something decent that will run it smoothly and without many hitches. Id like to have the settings at medium - high.

You think ill see a better performance boost with a better GFX? CPU should be able to handle the higher settings right?

While this may seem like a bit of a stupid question atm, has anyone got an idea of the data usage for the beta?

I'm in Aus and because of the stupid download caps here, I'm wondering what sort of MB/hour for the download/upload.

Apparently WoW uses a mere 40MB/Hour, while Bad Company 2 can be upwards of 120MB/hour.

Looks like they finally fixed the FFXIV benchmark for Geforce card owners. I haven't updated to the new drivers yet. I own a gtx480.

Would you get the 1GB of 756MB version of the 460?

Damnit you get all the good deals over in the US. Would be very lucky to get that card over here for that price haha.

I prefer ATI over Gforce so ill probably stick with them, seems the 5850 is one of the top performers at the moment, iv been told that my CPU might bottleneck with a 5850 though... Hmmm
