Well got a new PSU went with the Corsair HX850 (modular ftw) and started the OC just my first time but was able to attain a good first timeclock and its stable as a rock, had Prime95 on for 2hrs and max was 74c under 100% load, so i will leave it at 3.4ghz for now here are the updates to my scores.

All in all i am very happy with the jump on both scores with a small O/C like this one but it was my first and will for sure be going higher soon!

Protip: pulling out lmgtfy when you don't understand a basic request like mine makes you look both like a jerk and a bit clueless. I'm talking about FFXIV benchmarks, especially with the newest Nvidia drivers that seem to be improving performance across the whole GTX4xx line. There's only one review available using the FFXIV benchmark, which wasn't done very well (only used an HD5770 for comparison, which it matched).

Yeah, we get it mr. 4 posts and making requests. Several people have already posted the noted increases with the new drivers, myself included. Several times. No more than a page ago. Requesting 460 runs with these drivers specifically also doesn't make much sense.. seeing as they're the 460 release drivers..

Don't waltz in here and cop an attitude when people attempt to answer your question, that's a good way to earn a vacation.

@izzy, more volts. If they're already maxed, you're at the chips limit. [Edit] and giving the clocks you're currently at could help diagnosis.

It would be nice to see some other results, with beefier CPUs (that particular person was running a stock i7 860) and the GTX 460 run the bench, just for comparisons sake. Sure, we could ball park the figures, but nothing beats some solid results. After googling, that's the only one I could find. It could be just me being horrible with google though...

Unlock that bad boy, overclock the stuffing out of it and it should work nicely with the 460.

I do not believe i can unlock the 4th core with my CPU (Gigabyte MA790X-UD4P), but I did OC it for my first time to the x16 multiplier and 3.2GHz. The thing about that is when running Prime95, I can basically only run it for 3-4 minutes tops before my temps hit like.. 55C, so I still need to get some better cooling that I currently have, Haha.

Hmmm, 55c should be fine as far as load temps go. And I can guarantee you right now that even being the beast XIV is turning out to be on systems, it's never going to load your CPU like Prime95 does.

Yeah, well that was 55C after only like.. 4 minutes tops, Lol. Someone I know ran it for 12 hours on their OC (way higher than mine minuscule amount) and only hit around 46-47C, so D: I definitely need at last another fan in this case to help with air flow, and an aftermarket cooler for the CPU.

Still.. 3.2GHz isn't so terrible. I could actually tell a small difference.

Shouldn't be surprised by the rise is temp so quickly with Prim95. Even with liquid cooling, my temps hit my high after just a minute with that burning my CPU. 55c really is fine for 100% load with Prime95. Phenom IIs run fine 60c+ from what I've read.

If you're really so worried about it, I suggest just getting a better HSF. Another case fan won't help much if your current HSF isn't getting rid of the heat quick enough, as it's the direct cooling device for your CPU.

Yeah, the extra fans were more for helping me feel better, really. I'm using two stock CM690 case fans right now, so yeah, lol. New fans would probably push more air out and be way quieter.

As far as the Prime95 temp, yeah.. it hovered around 53-54 for like a minute, then keeps climbing slowly. I'm sure that's how it's supposed to be and I could have probably lasted another minute or two, but I just stopped it before it could get that far I suppose.

Also yeah, Phenom II's can hit 60-61C decently, but still. Not risking it as I'm a noob with the OCing thing. My multiplier went from 14-16 on my first try and no issues thusfar (knock on would). Wondering if I should go to 16.5 or 17 next.. I may some time.

No harm in trying. Too many fail safes in todays hardware to screw up an component by overclocking.

The one that came with my X3 720, Lol. Stock cooling ftw. Temps hover around 30-31C at night, and around 33-35C during the middle of the day (Alabama heat, bleeeh) so not so bad.

Duuuuude....get an aftermarket HSF. Your temps will drop considerably with a good one, better then what any case fan can do (if you already have the stocks running one intake and one exhaust).

Yeah, I've got one in front of the CM690 running in, and the one in the back goin gout, so that's fine.

But yeah, I was looking into getting an aftermarket HSF at some point here in the future. I was going to order a GTX 460 (Possibly) within a week, then we'll see what happens. Instead of continuing to hijack the thread, why don't ya PM me? Maybe some HSF suggestions

460 has been added to this thread, don't even have to leave the site anymore. If you really need to see the score on this specific bench to know where it's going to fall, you'll just have to wait until someone posts one.

[edit] And heat sinks are going to be hard to recommend for you, since almost all of the good ones would require you to install a backplate underneath your motherboard. And I already know you're not willing to do that lol.

Tbh i think alot of people are over worrying i only scored a 1811 on the 1080 version of the benchmark and im having absolutly no problem running the game and ive overclocked nothing:

Everything stock i dont think i got any lag at all even when loading a built up area..

and i think i scored about 2500 on the low settings of benchmark.

Yeah I think I am just a little paranoid about the specs I need. It is just that I really want the game to be full screen at my native resolution. I have come so accustomed to things being at 1680x1050 I just have to have it. The minimum specs for the game are pretty low. However, I don't know what assumptions are being made for those specs. Do the min specs indicate what you would need to have to run it at 800x600 with all settings at the minimum? That is what I am assuming and obviously I am going to need something better to get beyond the minimum so I can enjoy the game the way I want to enjoy it.

I'm guessnig minimum settings are 1280x720, there is no option currently for anything lower as far as I can tell.

Well on my setup i was running it in 1680x1050 @ fullscreen with 1sampling and stuff, and then all in game settings to to high such as shadows and stuff, but i just got the dell ultrasharp 24" monitor so ive upped them to 1900x1200 but next beta isnt til wednesday ; ;
