    Don't waltz in here and cop an attitude when people attempt to answer your question, that's a good way to earn a vacation.
    I'm asking because I think it would help a lot of people who may have to buy something now, but don't have enough information to make a clear-cut decision. The only benchmark available (that was posted earlier, and I referred to before because I did find it easily) shows an HD5770 matching it, and some more information would be helpful. Nobody has the obligation to do it, but I would think people would be at least interested what kind of scores they can get and just take a handful of minutes to post some information that really isn't anywhere else right now.

    I realize the new drivers are giving people with 465s/470s/480s performance increases. I only asked that they make sure they have the newest drivers because some people still install from the installation disc, and Nvidia will fairly often print a first batch that have intermediate drivers that never make it to the download site. People often sneer at Nvidia's forum reps when they're asked what drivers they're using on a just-released card with only one apparent driver available, and that's why.

    I'm sorry if I came off as rude to someone who's been a longstanding member here, but a handful of posts means nothing more than the fact that I've made a handful of posts on this specific site, and using lmgtfy generally isn't considered 'answering a question', but instead being needlessly condescending. I know what information is out there, and whatever doesn't exist, I'm hoping that someone here will be able to clear up. At any rate, I'm interested in seeing how an OC'ed 460 does against your 470, what with price drops and all.

    EDIT: Thanks for the link including 460 benchmarks, which are in line with basically every major review out there. I didn't check it at first because I figured the tests would be DX10/11 heavy (which they are), and though there are some more relevant DX9 benches out there, there are always per-game surprises (eg Metro 2033). The fact that the only actualy benchmark score out there shows it matching a 5770 when it by all rights should be doing significantly better is what's odd and will hopefully get clarification.

    Uhh seriously?
    My comp:
    Q6600 is at 3.4
    ATI 4890

    Benchmark on High was 2590...

    My game lagged & stuttered SO hard before Tuesday's patch.
    That was also with everything set to low except Buffer Size...

    I had some serious chugging/frameskip issues with my current build when I attempted to run it @1080p, with it only smoothing out after I reduced the resolution to 720p; my benchmark scores are here.

    Not exactly news, but there's definitely some ways to go on the optimization front.

    What does the buffer size setting do in the beta config?

    I believe that's the texture quality setting.
    Think Double Buffer would look insanely good!

    Its the rendering settings, if you choose 1080p.

    Window = 1080
    Double = 2160 (super sampling)
    Half = 540
    Quarter = 270

    Try starting the beta with Quarter and you will know what I mean, its like looking at a PS1 game.

    Ahh I thought thats what it was but never actually tried it. Gonna run this next phase on double buffer just to see what its like on 720p.

    Cheers, I take it Multisampling is AA not AF or is it something completely different as well?

    Yup, AA(Multisampling) is for removing jaggies and smoothing out the image, AF is improving textures, most specifically at angles or long distances. Unless your computer is an absolute piece of crap, it's always a good idea to set AA to 2x at a minimum. 2x AA does almost nothing performance wise, but makes shit look alot better.

    http://www.tweakguides.com/Graphics_11.html explains it pretty well

    I usually just set 1xAA and pump up AF to 8x but theres no option for that atm, can you force settings from CCC (ATI) in the beta?

    I run off a 50" plasma, so my viewing distance is about 9ft so I never notice the jagged edges at 1080p, will have a fiddle anyhow on Tuesday.

    You're right, multisampling indicates the number of samples taken when performing AA and isn't related to AF. EDIT: Beaten to it because I'm slow.

    Also, Celeras, thanks a lot for putting this thread together.

I noticed this happen in another game as well on stock speeds so it may be an issue with the beta drivers I'm using as the card doesn't appear to have suffered any damage.
    you were probably introducing errors due to instability from the higher speeds; if you backed off a little bit rather than all the way to the stock speeds, you'd probably be back to stable ^^

    :< there's still some pretty competitive LGA775s. (there's a Q9550 with current ATI card in the top 10 probably still, even including later benchers who aren't on the list yet.) and my QX9650 put up scores competitive with the i7s with similar era gpus.

    I mean, it requires a yorkfield(45nm) quad cpu - but even the extremes are down around 300$ now, and if you're near a microcenter I think they have the Q9550s for about 180$.

    there are even LGA775 mobos that support PCI-E 2.0 (I have one) so the platform still supports the 'high end' graphics solutions like dual 5870s or 480s etc.

    if you do upgrade your socket though, make sure you get a 1366 and not an 1156, or you're just trading one dead-end platform for another :3

    It's quite a minimal effect to be honest it juts make shadows and dark area's more contrasty and dramatic looking.

    Middle is AO = on , last is with it off.

    The only benchmark settings you can change are the race and the resolution (1080p or 720p).

    So you tried to unlock it and did not succeed?

    Have you tried the methods in this thread? http://www.overclock.net/amd-cpus/53...ing-guide.html

    The BIOS they found successful for your board is F5/F7/F9.

    55C isn't really that high for my CPU... you might want to find out what kind of temps that processor can hit. I don't really worry about mine until it gets to the 60s.

    Yea, I read that people said that the option was quite an FPS hog, so I was wondering if it would be worth it for the added effect. Hopefully they'll optimize it for the release version though.
