hilariously, if SE hadnt been such fuckups with last remnant, then XIV would have been built on the UT3 engine and run much better than its currently running. however they did a very pisspoor job of optimizing last remnant and thus didnt code any more for that release of the engine

Did they really? I never had any problems running The Last Remnant nor have I had any friends that did.

Don't think you've actually looked at the game long enough. I'm playing it right now on PC and every time you zone, it's kinda sad.

Oh that. Yeah, you're right. I found that pretty minor.

The texture issue in Last Remnant was no worse then Mass Effect 1. Everything else about the PC version of Last Remnant was fine,

As far as I know they were planning to create XIV using the crystal tools from the start, because the engine is quite flexible when it comes to making cutscenes for example. I bet it'll save a lot of work in the long run.

For the love of God, please do. This is exactly what I've been hoping for. It might even stop me from being such an unnecessarily petulant jackass.

    Which brand, by the way?

When you post your results, can you please also make sure to note whether you're running the 256-bit 1GB card or the 192-bit 768MB card?

I want to see how this benchmark runs with an overclocked c2d (atleast 4ghz) + 5870

My old build had a c2d but I gave the cpu/mobo/gpu away after I built my new PC (i7 980X and a 5870) or I would test my c2d oc'd to 4ghz + Radeon 5870. Right now I should be getting alot higher scores on 1080p than people on 4-core cpus because 980X is 6 cores, which leads me to the question does this game even really support multiple cores?

I think a c2d oc'd to atleast 4ghz wouldn't be much of a setback as long as it's paired with a high end video card, saves a shitload of money too because I had to upgrade my motherboard and ram just to get an i7, so it's more than just the cost of the CPU. I was getting 2500ish range with the c2d and a 4870, if I had just upgraded the videocard I'm pretty sure it would've pushed me to the 3900-4100 range even with an old ass core 2 duo. It would probably be the most economic thing for people still on LGA775, overclock the shit out of your CPU and stick a high end GPU in it, I can see it working, but who knows, rather see someone actually try it than speculate.

I just bought a new processor, AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz Quad Core, because my old one was 4 years old and I think it was causing me low scores on the bench.

My graphics card is a GeForce GTS 250 1GB (update drivers today) and have 4GB ram.

When I ran the bench again today with everything installed I only received a 1.1k on low which doesn't make sense to me with the specs I have considering I was able to run Crisis with my card in the past.

The only issue I could see with it is the new processor is AM3 and I have an AM2 socket on my mobo, but I read that theses were compatible before buying.

Anyone know what could be causing this?

Edit: Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate , also btw

When are prices supposed to fall, and if before XIV's release, by how much?

There shouldn't be anything wrong with your processor. A GTS 250 isn't exactly a very powerful card by today's standards, but I'm not sure if it should be holding your score down to 1.1k...

If you have beta access, I'd say give it a shot first. There are at least a few people who have reported low scores yet can run the beta completely fine.

You may want to consider upgrading that card in the near future though, especially if you plan to play the game at any measure of high settings.

My laptop got a 1.5k on low with a Nvidia Quadro FX 2700M 512mb vram and a Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.26 ghz. So I'm having a hard time believing I can't get at least a 2k on my desktop. (the laptop runs beta fine too, very minimal lag)

Edit: Also there is someone with a 3440 on low with a similar processor and the same card as me :/, I don't get it.

Pretty sure AMD confirmed in early July no price drops on any of the 58xx series cards anytime soon.

    I have a 775 c2quad which I put at 4ghz, the difference between 4ghz and 3.6 was minimal, incidentally.

it did however put up 3200 high, 4799 low scores with an overlocked 9800GX2, so I'm confident with a modern graphics card (I have pci-e 2.0 support and 2 full 16x lanes on my card, so it could handle a dual card setup too.. not that that helps here.) would put the c2q in the same score range as a core i7 quad.

as for duo versus quad, it certainly loads 4 cores for me, although one leads by 15-20% or so. I can't speak about whether or not it would load 6.

do you have H/T enabled? could try disabling to see if it does anything to your score

Are you running everything at stock settings; no overclocking? Using any beta drivers? Definitely sounds like something's up.

Yeah everything is running at stock settings. I just went o nvidia and got the current driver for the 250GTS. I installed the processor today, so that's why I thought something might be up with the motherboard's socket not working well with the new processor. Windows does not ever read which proccessor it is and says it's unknown.

What motherboard are you using, and have you updated the BIOS for it recently? A lot of the older AM2 motherboards need a BIOS update to even boot up with some AM3 processors, even if they are compatible.

I never updated the bios, I'm at work atm, so I cant give exactly which motherboard I have. But the computer was booting, so wouldn't that mean the processor is being used?

The processor is being used but that doesn't mean it's being properly recognized. A BIOS will often default to some lowest common denominator for greatest compatibility when a processor it doesn't recognize is installed, if it manages to boot at all. Is your CPU correctly identified at POST?
