that is a little disappointing considering what I was getting with a C2Q and 9800GX2..

how loaded are you on the gpu/cpu when running the high? which is slowing you down?

edit: what was your score with the old card?

old card was an 8800 GTS 640mb G80, I think it was 1600 or something.

CPU is almost never pegged, it hits 100 on both cores about 10 times, but never over 90% for more than half a second. Usually the CPU sits between 60 and 80 on both cores, sometimes dropping to 35. The gpu is virtually pegged on all the outdoor boat scenes. Indoor boat scenes the GPU was around 70-80% usage, CPU also 70-80%.

I did another test and got around the same. I will run it on low and look at the loads. The Square Enix logo at the start pegs the gpu by the way, is that normal?

Ambient Occlusion works now. Getting some input lag, can't tell if its the setting or not. Will test. Do notice some FPS drops with AO on though, so for the first time I'm no longer locked at 30.

Just installed my new GTX470, can't get the damn benchmark to run. Well, I should say, it runs, but randomly within the first "tavern" scene, it will soft crash (The Final Fantasy XIV OFFICIAL BENCHMARK has stopped working windows error).

Any ideas what causes this? I have the latest version of directx according to Microsoft's updater (DX11), and am using nvidia driver Forceware 258.96.
Before installing the driver I ran driversweeper to clean all nvidia display/physx and rebooted.

I got my new system and I am in the process of overclocking it. I installed MSI Afterburner, and Kombustor. To get Kombustor to run, I had to install the special DirectX 11 installation from August 2009 that came included in the package. After I did this, and found a stable overclock the performance went from 4700 on high to something like 2300. Ouch.

I think it's related to that damn Kombustor DirectX installation. Now, the DirectX 9 installation on Microsoft's site fails.

Since it's DirectX and I don't have a restore point I think I will have to reinstall the OS to revert back to the factory version, unless someone here has any advice?

I still plan to OC the CPU and the triple channel Kingston memory the system came with and post the results. For now... it's beta time!


Edit Kawfee - try the direct x link i posted above. It will probably handle your issue.

same price better for FFXIV and more OC head room i am sure of it, grab another stick of the same ram at 2gig so your running triple channel and if your really hurting for more preformance get a 2nd 5770 and Xfire them and OC to about 3.5-4.0ghz and your gonna score 5000+ low and 3500+ high settings.

AM3 does dual channel, not tri channel. That and the card that your link comes with is the 5750, not the 5770.

Ran the directx program, it did its thing, crashed still
Right when "your character" lifts his/her head and it says "hear feel think" or w/e.

Any other ideas? I want to see the impact of putting this card in, sigh.

They unlock the settings and you fgts still playing at 720p? x.x; I'm maxed at 1920x1200, crank that shit up.

I'm always doing "stuff" in the background so cant play with settings that high. Maybe in open beta.

I really wish they'd put a "fullscreen while windowed" option kinda like how WoW/FFXI Windower has. If I set FFXIV to 1920x1080, I have that annoying ass title bar on top, and the screen doesn't fit the monitor.

Ya, game developers seem to have a hard time implementing that one. maybe we'll get it later.

I actually hit 30 FPS everywhere except Limsa. 720p all settings maxed, shadows off.

What kind of settings does the game allow you to adjust? Well besides all the obvious stuff like resolution, texture quality and shadows.

Does it let you change AA or AF, etc?

Confirmed that the input lag is a symptom of having Ambient Occlusion enabled, and not the servers.

Was going to post a screenshot comparison of Ambient Occlusion on/off, but I'll do it later. I have the 'on' screenshot.. but afterburner decided not to fire for the latter half of my session and missed some things including the 'off' pose.

Standing in a crowded area nets me like 2 to 5 kb/s download and 1 kb/s upload.

I am only hitting 60C under full load with furmark, fan @70%. I need to find some way to increase the voltage past this 1.087 limit afterburner is giving me.

Just want to point out this is generally true. The only time I found this statement to be false is when you are trying to build a computer for as cheap as possible. Some of these cheap computers I have found from retailers there would be no way I could build the same computer cheaper.

I still have the stutters with my ATI card (HD 5970). Does anyone else still have them too ?

It's not unplayable but just a bit annoying, hope they'll find the problem soon. ^^

I sure do, only the LL bridge area is completely playable right now.

Was hoping for a fix today since they seem to know the issue but it's not unbearable so w/e.
