FFXIV Random Speculation/Question thread III: Where's my beta invite?

How many seeds on the torrent are you guys getting? I'm only connect to 3 (of 53) according to uTorrent and I'm trucking along at 13kb/s down where-as I'm uploading 100kb/s. ;/

Sadly having the same issue on Windows 7. Newly installed on a brand new HD, about 2 weeks ago. DirectX 11, up to date drivers right from NVidia.

Was so happy to wake up and find a Beta invite only to not be able to play it. All I can find on it is rather unhelpful thread with tons of other people having the same issue with various OS/Cards.

My system meets minimum requirements, my only snag being my video card which I was pretty sure would able to atleast run the game. Maybe not the best and on bare min for graphics, but atleast run it. (Nvidia GeForce 7600 GS 512mb) Looking at cards on Newegg now but I still have this worry that it won't fix the issue.

Bah.. if that's all it is. Someone said I was fine with DirectX 11 and that I shouldn't need to download anything. Will give it a try.

The game will crash if your card isn't good enough, so it's definitely the problem

It's a known issue, with (as far as I know) no solution. It was all over the alpha/beta forums. I had this problem as well, with an ATI Radeon X1950 series card. Benchmark resulted in the same thing.

I gave my account to a friend since I couldn't run it, so I haven't checked the official forums, but maybe they have found a solution.

a tip for people using utorrent, make sure you don't set the number of connections up too high

around 100-125 connections should be the upper limit, anymore than this and you will start using more bandwidth to maintain a connection than you use for actual transferring data

when i had mine set to 200+ i was getting terrible download rates and my whole home network was lagged

dropped it to 80 connections and network lag was clear and downloads sped way up and kept it there

Yah wanted to ask people if they use Bittorrent or The installer

Utorrent curruntkly got 3(63) seeds for 23.3kb/s

And installer got 17 connections for 30kb/s

Both are taking 2days as for now

Wondering w/e to leave both on or just one during the night

holy shit this man speaks the truth. mine was set at 200, lowered it to 80. BAM, took an hour off the download time.

You need the latest directx runtime files.. Even if you have DX11 they could be out of date.

I did it, it jumped up, then slid back down to shit central, looking at 25kb/s atm, and I've never, ever had a torrent run this slow or this low.

The problem with downloading the beta patch is that the official client is terrible, but in uTorrent you are locked out from connecting to anyone using the official client (if you look in the trackers it will say something about the tracker not being authorized). This means you can mostly only connect to local seeds/leechers.
Also, not many people are seeding the files after they finish, since the file is deleted after it is installed.

I know what you mean. I'm just happy to have the update going after dealing with the fxivboot.exe error. Guess I'll play some SSFIV (still hyped from EVO) for the next 4-5 hours, or maybe I'll login to XI for the first time in months.

Well, glad to hear everyone else is having a shitty connection speed, going to lower my connection cap from 100 to 75 just to make surfing the web less shitty.

I'd like to blame SE for lack of supplying servers for this, but odds are they did it anyway to stagger the amount of people capable of actually logging in tomorrow before the population cap is hit.

That may be true, but when everyone decides to limit their upload to a ridiculously low level things can be slow.
