So I'm borrowing a friend's account. Does anyone know how the security token works? I can't ask him to be online at 3AM his time just to give me a code, as that's a bit ridiculous. Can he give me the next code right now and I'll be able to use it when the beta starts?

No. He'd have to give you the code right before you log in.

Edit: And if anyone has the link to the unofficial download send it my way, I'm bad at the internet and upgrading to Windows 7 atm while I search for the link on my phone!

I had to go find a new driver for my video/display card. Apparently the most up to date ATI Driver (10.6) was having issues and was crashing when I tried to start the Beta or the Benchmark, but after installing 10.4 both are working fine.

Was thinking of trying this, but my morale has dropped, lol. I have the latest one released on 6/15 for my card. I'm leaning mostly towards just getting a new video card, although the money is an issue. Browsing Newegg in the 50-75$ range at the moment. If anyone has any suggestions, feel free to shoot them to me in PM.

Your best bet would be to ask him to just disable the security token for the time being while you're using his account.

Initially that's what we were trying, but apparently doing that disables the token for good, making it useless.

Oh, well then. Sorry. Rather new to them myself as I only reactivated a few months ago. I knew you could deactivate them after getting your satchel in game, didn't know it was permanent? Best of luck.

Its up to SE to really go balls out and show that this is THE game to get. I haven't even seen any commercials for it yet. No big scary dragons or 50 people all charging down a hill fighting or anything.

I'm going to assume the multimillion dollar company knows how to market it's products a little more then you do You're right though, I would rather see Mr T talking about FFXIV!

SE's being very lax about the entire situation, seemingly happy just to address those FFXI fans who they already know are going to buy this.

And why not? That's one of their primary main crowds right now and pre-orders from that crowd will be a very good chunk of cash inflow.

The more people playing, the more crowded everything will be, and the more spam/etc. you'll have to deal with.
Also, the more popular it is, the worse the community will get, in my opinion.

I think the ffxi crowd and anyone else who is already interested in this game will be more than enough to find parties/groups and to support updates/expansions/etc.

To an extent. I want it to be successful in its own niche. I would never want it to become mainstream. Luckily with Cataclysm, the majority of the target market I loathe will probably stick to WoW.

Wonder when they're going to send the next wave of invites, oi. I wonder if they'll have the crafting leves up next.

Rather, you can log in to your account at any time, but now you should be able to log in to the tester forums too >_>.

Why are all the Aussies on EU test anyway? Wouldn't it make more sense to apply to the US test? =o

yea thats what i mean,sorry xD it still shows me that I'm not registered when I try to log into the beta - i can log into my account
