FFXIV Random Speculation/Question thread III: Where's my beta invite?

Don't think this is worth it's own thread, so I'm just going to throw it in here for anyone who happens to come across it. I saw this deal on Fat Wallet for a free Mouse Pad (You need to become a fan of the site on facebook (for 1 second) and publish something for them on your wall (which you promptly delete).

Anyways, the first thing that came to mind when I saw it was FFXIV. Made myself
this nice mouse pad. Figured some of you guys might be interested.

Also: Maaaan, the client download is so slow, arrrrgh.

Check your account, the "confirm membership status" tab. It should show the Beta test info there, if not, I guess you have to wait still.

That bot had better punctuation than you. But really? It didn't seem like bot spam to me, it's actually a pretty good deal for a printed mouse pad, I'd get one with some Akihiko Yoshida art on it if I didn't have a special mousepad already that I have no reason to replace.

You should see the spam our forum gets some of it is actually quite good but 80% of it is trash you learn what to look for after a while, maybe it's the sleep deprivation but it set off alarms .

Are there any signs of FF14 merch yet?

And why not? That's one of their primary main crowds right now and pre-orders from that crowd will be a very good chunk of cash inflow.

If you think that SE would be happy or even content with having a fraction of the FFXI playerbase (because let's be honest, it will be well under 60% who do make the switch) you are delusional beyond comprehension.

While you are obviously right (aside from throwing numbers out of a hat), that might be initially for the best. Especially if the beta continues after Sept. 22nd, if millions of people try the game, see it's still unpolished they go away and never come back..

But.. if they check it out after few months, better chance for them to actually stick around. A stable increase rather than massive flood of players could be a very good thing y'know? Just like in XI.

I saw that they have ads on Amazon. Does that count? I'm not sure if we'll see any sort of TV ads until the game is within a week or two of release if at all. Even more likely would be for them to heavily advertise the PS3 version.

Looking at the peers on uTorrent it looks like the highest are at 60ish%? I downloaded the 7/09 patch and thought I was done only to have it promptly begin downloading 7/12 when I copied over the 7/9 and ran the client again. Some people said they were done, were they just stupid and only downloaded the 7/09 patch or are people who finished not seeding?

You can just download to some random folder, leave the patch to seed and copy it to the patch folder of your client so you can update in the meantime.
