Yep, sounds like a new problem, and you're the lucky one to experience it :D

I think it's because I used uTorrent to download the 07.09 patch. I wanted to have more control over the torrent, but it looks like it backfired on me.

Am I doing something wrong, or is did this happen to everyone who was in the middle of downloading?
Your correct. Because of the way the updater works, if you used a torrent program to download the file then your going to have to download a new 3.35gb file.

Its a new problem that has come up today because they added new testers on the same day they patched the client.

The updater only recognizes the most current file, so if you use a 3rd party program, then copy the file over and it doesn't match the new one, it starts again. If you use the official client, its not a problem unless it crashes or your stop/start it.

    Sorry

I hear it happens if you cancel the last update too.

But the utorrent thing didn't work for me either way though.. you sure the file is in the right folder? It didn't recognize mine when I did it like that and never found a solution, I just let it DL through the official patcher.

I also used utorrent. Did you copy the downloaded file across to the ff14 folder and overwrite the file there?

Yay! At this rate I'll keep using uTorrent only to find out they've made another little patch at the end, haha

At least you'll get to log in to a recently patched game!

You'll never have to deal with the incorrect pricing of oak logs like some of the testers.

Hmm, perhaps I did it wrong? I didn't copy any files, I just had uTorrent downloading the file to the place I assumed was "correct" (i.e. saving the d9xxxx folder with the patch in it to the ffxiv-beta folder)

Obviously. I was refering to the people who downloaded the client using torrent prior to the update. Majority of them are complaining they have to download the entire thing again instead of being able to simply update.

Having trouble finding any info about this anywhere, I'm a patient person so while waiting for the updater which is apparently going to take another 12-17 hours or so I thought I'd ask here since you all seem pretty active, I can't login on the beta site forums, keep getting told my password is wrong, can't register either so I'm a bit...wtf..

Wait, which folder are you referring to? Maybe I didn't put it in the right place after all.

Its should go in your Patch folder.

    C:\Users\Me\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version\downloads\ffxiv-beta\d96437e6\patch

    I think it is.

If you downloaded the 2010.07.09 patch via torrent, then tried to patch it in the last 3 hours then its 100% the wrong file now. No way around it due to the way the patcher works.

As I said, its a new problem thats only reared its head today because of the update as new testers came online.

Your talking about the small update. What people are having issues with is the fact that the patcher only recognises the most recent file, and they downloaded the old one (old as in yesterday). If you get to 99% of the old file, then the patcher crashes, and you restart, but there is a new file, it ignores the old file and starts again.

For people that used a torrent program to download the old file, the patcher will ignore it because a new file is available.

For some people they have to download an entire new 3.5gb patch after downloading it through uTorrent last night.
