I started the download last night, then just recently I adjusted some router settings, so I decided to restart the downloader. Big mistake apparently.

So I just randomly tried to log in and could see the character creator, although the server's not up just yet. I couldn't play on saturday (work }, exciting times!! Just hope it runs better than alpha for me.. maybe.

If you downloaded the 2010.07.09 patch via torrent, then tried to patch it in the last 3 hours then its 100% the wrong file now. No way around it due to the way the patcher works.

As I said, its a new problem thats only reared its head today because of the update as new testers came online.

Well, thank you guys for at least letting me know why this is happening. Maybe if I'm lucky I'll make it into the second half of today's time period.

So how about those of you posting right now and not playing? Having other troubles? (it is up right now right?)

Your talking about the small update. What people are having issues with is the fact that the patcher only recognises the most recent file, and they downloaded the old one (old as in yesterday). If you get to 99% of the old file, then the patcher crashes, and you restart, but there is a new file, it ignores the old file and starts again.

For people that used a torrent program to download the old file, the patcher will ignore it because a new file is available.

what is if you change the name from the torrent to the new update file? and then start ffxivupdate maybe it only downloads the new files then?

Oooh, 3AM PDT. I did the conversion in my head backwards last night. And to think I could have just logged simultaneous with thousands of others to help crash servers and experience a multitude of other problems, haha.

Just tried that. IT WORKS. lol. Everyone copy and rename the patch. Place it over the 7/12 patch. It will download some small files and then you're good to go! 3 mins to go for me.
