FFXIV Random Speculation/Question thread III: Where's my beta invite?

So I found the port I need to open in the "upnp_port_mapping" txt doc in the ffxiv downloads folder, but I'm completely incompetent when it comes to port forwarding. I'm using a D-Link DIR655 router, and when I want to forward a port, it asks for both the tcp and udp. I entered the ranges listed previously in the thread, but got the error

UDP port range '55296 – 55551' of '(name of application)' is invalid

and the same error for the TCP ranges.

My download speed has been around 50-60kb/s with spikes of 90-112kb/s and dips of 10-20kb/s. Trying to download Boot Version: 2010.07.05.2000, currently at 3.5% with 12 hours remaining. Does that sound normal? halp!

Okay so uhh, did you copy paste that range or did you enter it manually?

My router didn't accept the - and spaces but when I entered it manually it worked.

Can you check if you have both 07.09 and 07.12 in your patch folders? I have the 07.09 one I downloaded in there, then I renamed it to 07.12 and placed it in there, too. The file size is 3,513,666 kb right?

You should have only had one in the folder when you started the patcher. That is, the 07.09 patch renamed to the 07.12 patch.

The size should be 3,513,737kb

hmmmm I go from my torrent to open containing folder and the size is 3,513,666. I'm guessing something has happened and I've lost what I downloaded or some crap?

Oh, I just did it again and my download through the official patcher jumped to 60.1%. I'm guessing this is a good sign.

Well it's definitely a sign of some sort. You're now on the same path as Cray and I. Will see if it pays off in the end. I'm sticking with the official patcher this time too. I don't want to use uTorrent again only for there to be some other patch.

Torrents are such a tease. Jumping up to 100kb/s or higher every once in a while to show how this could be done in a couple hours. If I could just download this thing at respectable speeds (several hundred kb/s) this wouldn't be so painful...

I'm using Utorrent again. I can't stand having upload higher than download for 50% of the time. Would've taken 12 hours. At least this way it can be done by lunchtime for me.

It really sucks, using uTorrent I was downloading at 600kb/sec while tweaking my settings. Through the official patcher I go sometimes go up to 130 then drop to 20. It's pretty frustrating. The last 40% is going to take around 10 hours apparently which kind of sucks, and after all of this I'm expecting for something to go wrong because of the renaming thing. An error of some sort or something. Is your last 40% going slowly, too?

Tried without the spaces, just the dash and got the same error. Not sure how to open a range without a dash though... Sorry for the trouble, but like I said... I'm incompetent when it comes to this kind of thing

That should work.. so you did enter the numbers and dash manually? I can't think of any other solution really.. www.portforward.com might have some info though.

You have to stop the download

Rename the h2010.07.09.2000.patch to h2010.07.12.2000.patch and restart the torrent or the installer to start back at 50% like the rest of us
