FFXIV Random Speculation/Question thread III: Where's my beta invite?

I changed the max upload speed and the amount of seeds I was downloading from. It made a huge difference, I shot up from 150kb/sec > 400 > 600 eventually. I'm using the patcher now though and from 60% it's taking forever. Cray, did you open the new patch in uTorrent from the 60% mark or start all over again?

Oh, I'm a computer idiot, how can I make it so the file starts downloading at 60% through uTorrent when I did the rename trick?

You have to stop the download

Rename the h2010.07.09.2000.patch to h2010.07.12.2000.patch and restart the torrent or the installer to start back at 50% like the rest of us

ok maybe it's cause i Just woke up or may just be bad at this stuff, is that the step by step on how to do it?

I just stop it, rename it and start again?

Yeah, I have also forgotten how to re-point a torrent download with uTorrent. It's still stuck on some 5% 07.12 somehow...

You have to have the folders correct. ffxiv-beta/d96437e6/patch/ and then put the patch in that folder. Put all of that in where you download your torrents.

So... just create those folders and copy your 7-12 patch from the other folder. My Games/ffxiv -beta/ etc.

That should work.. so you did enter the numbers and dash manually? I can't think of any other solution really.. www.portforward.com might have some info though.

Entering manually got rid of the error... Downloader spikes to 200kb/s now, but frequently resets to 0kb/s and works it's way back up. I've read that having remote connections is a good sign, but I can't seem to get any at all

If your torrenting, start again with the new file.

If your using the official patcher, DO NOT STOP IT.

If your using the patcher, as long as you don't stop it or it doesn't crash, it will complete the old file, then download a very small new one.

Yeah I only started getting remote connections after opening the ports, but it did take a while. Tried restarting the client?

Hmm, my uTorrent was definitely pointing at the right place, but to fix it I had to delete the entry in uTorrent and start it again. Then it picked up at the right place.

Yes. here's what you need to do:

-Stop your torrent (probably need to close uTorrent or whatever you use)
-rename 07.09 part of file to "07.12"
-start the patcher, which will seemingly use some of what you've already dl'ed
-either continue with patcher, or close it and switch back to program of choice.

I switched back to uTorrent about 10 mins ago probably. It's definitely faster. I'm getting an average kB/s of around 120 I'd guess. A couple times it shot up to almost 250kB/s! I should have switched back sooner. The patcher is miserable.

Currently 66.3% T_T

Edit: of course as I post this it has dipped to averaging about 80kB/s

Ok I am very confused. I have renamed the patch etc and it's downloading it from the patcher. I've opened uTorrent and there is nothing in there (I removed the torrent file of the 07.09 one which was 100% complete). I now find the torrent for the new patch in my documents, ff14 and it starts from 0%. Help prz.
