People should learn that uploading more usualy makes torrents go faster if anything as some trackers check down/up ratio ...and faster uploads in no way affects download, i must admit i used to be 1 of those people lol
I got the Direct X etc crash after starting a leve, now when I try to reaccept it it's there but I can't pick it. Anyone know how to restart it?
Uncapped upload? Yes, it will make you slower. You need headroom to update the tracker, test incoming connections, etc. Try uncapped and then try capped with about 20-30k below your cap. You'll notice a difference.
Edit:
20-30k depending on your connection. Cap it at 60-80% of your upload speed. Then test.
Stress testing, bro.Seem like SE killed off any proper testing by letting this many people get access at the same time.
Are the crafting leves back?
Btw it's a lagfest in Beta so don't think it's just you.
Fuck, I wake up only to see my download at 99%, and stuck there for about 30 minutes with no download speed, just upload... So I check earlier posts and see from someone that you can end the SE download and use the torrent.
I cancel the download start the torrent, "Torrent denied" no idea what that means, and then I restart the official updater to see if it can finish... and it's restarted at 0% wtf? I'm boned I guess? I thought the stupid thing saved progress... guess not. Fail for reading a post.
I don't suppose there's any chance of getting a separate thread for technical issues with the download/client? This thread is getting a little unwieldy in terms of actual information...
You'd figure the patcher would have the 12 update be incremental, rather than having two 12's, one for the complete and one for those with the data already. Must be confusing for teh tracker.
Redownloading a good 1.2gb of data at an amazing 1.3kb/s here. Bravo.
I got to 99% on the Square-Enix downloader, now neither BitTorrent nor the Official Downloader see that I was at 99%, they just start over from 0, I'm guessing when I hit cancel on the official downloader it deleted all my progress or something completely assinine, oh well fuck guess I'm not playing today.
Also do we really point it to the download folder?
C:\Users\Name\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version\downloads\
or
C:\Users\Name\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version\downloads\ffxiv-beta\d96437e6\patch
Also not sure but if I know someone who has the already finished patch and playable game, can I grab the patch file from them and overwrite the one on my computer?
A mod should change the name of this thread to now be about downloading patches.
god conjurer blows so fucking hard now. couldn't even stand to play with the changes made to it + the rest of the game
From the official forums...
I did this and now by download started at 60%, instead of 0%... still not 99%... just hoping this shit works when the 6 hours are finished.I started my download around 3:30pm PST on the 12th. Around 11:30pm PST, SE posted a new version of the client before my old download had completed. I watched my download for the next hour pretty much sit there at 35% complete and 0k/s before I decided to cancel it.
When I tried to restart the download process, after trying a couple times, still couldn't get it to download at all. I ended up having to delete my new H2010.07.12.2000 patch file (backed it up first just in case) and then rename my old H2010.07.09.2000 patch file to the new file name of H2010.07.12.2000. Once I did that, and restarted the downloading client, my download resumed.
Download speed is still very slow though, and isn't using my max bandwidth. I'm getting the same numbers as others have reported, anywhere from 0k/s to crazy high numbers like 400k/s, but usually it's sitting somewhere around 10-25k/s. That is a sloooooow download when you're talking about downloading files of this size.
I'm getting less connections than other people, could be my ISP though, not sure... but I'm only getting 1 to 7 local connections at a time. And I've -never- had a single remote connection since I started this process. Anyone have any ideas why I might not?
I wonder why it's so slow exactly? Are the spikes we're seeing coming from people who already have the full file when they run their 5 minute patch, or just more unexplainable randomness?
If my client gets stuck on 99.9%, I'll probably just let it go a long time. I suppose it's possible that you have to wait for someone with the full file to login and seed, or wait your turn in line for any of SE's seeders.
Anyway, if anyone has any general advice to speed this up, let us know! I suspect we just need to wait though.
Also can anyone confirm copying a completed patch file over the ones in our directories? Would that cause it to do a check, confirm that it has the full file then allow me to finally run the damn thing?
Oh nice. I was going to say, we're tied! I'm at 99.9% too, but it looks like you just snagged the last part. I switched over to the updater for the last .1% because I wanted to make sure it's going to do whatever it wants at the end of the download. For a second there it spiked up to 600kB/s, almost thought I was going to finish...
Edit: Okay, yeah just switched back to uTorrent and finished it in a few seconds XD. 100% wooooo!
