FFXIV Random Speculation/Question thread III: Where's my beta invite?

So I went to the player site, of course I could not get it but I tried anyway. It then told me to regester the beta access on my account and Im like what the hell sure. but then it asks me for a registration code. 20 digits.

It was my knowledge that you dont enter a beta code at all, your SE account gets updated with the beta automaticly, so why is it saying to enter a code to give my account beta access?

Right, my download went to 100% and it's now installing the patch. Taking forever to download but I am guessing that's normal anyway.

god conjurer blows so fucking hard now. couldn't even stand to play with the changes made to it + the rest of the game

I picked conjurer and did not like how I had to use MP to do anything worthwhile. Especially since it doesn't recover. I feel like mages are at a distinct disadvantage having to rely on MP so heavily no matter how you look at it because it's not like the damage is even that great. Also, what the fuck do you do with TP? Do Mages do nothing with it? it accumulates but doesn't get used, that makes sense. How about instead of costing MP spells cost TP, I don't know. Fuck.

I think the lag could be affecting my view of the class though, because I'd hit the cast then wait 15 seconds to see the damage then hit the next cast. All the while getting railed on by the mob...

Finally, my HP and MP were not increasing, I was with 195 HP and like 167 MP and I was level 4. My conjurer skill was going up unbearably slow too, I am not even halfway through level 1....

C:\Users\User\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version\downloads

Why here? The file it says its downloading is H2010.07.12.2000

So wouldn't it make sense to point BitTorrent here?

I did everything Cray said, Ramsey. It worked perfectly, installing now. Link utorrent to C:\Users\User\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version\downloads. After it finishes make a copy of the patch just incase, load ff14 launcher and it should install right away.

The actual torrent file itself creates the d9/patch folders, so you point it in the Downloads folder itself.

My question is should I be doing this with .09 or .12 because I replaced my .12 patch file with my .09 as pointed out on the official forums, and now its downloading from 60% instead of 0%, on the other hand when I run either of the torrents and point to /downloads/ it starts at 0%...

I'm starting to think I'm better off just waiting for the official updater, if I close the damn thing again I'll probably be fucked for good.

Confirming that you could utorrent the patch and then updat ffxiv with it.
Downloads folder, trust me.

My updater will start at 60.1% (currently at 67.3% with a blazing 25k/sec), but when I cancel the official updater and open up uTorrent, it starts at 0%. I did as someone suggested to change the directory in uTorrent to where the patch is going.

I guess I can live with the snail-like download speeds, I just don't want it to stop at 99.9%. T_T

You're going into Utorrent and changing the "Put newly downloaded files" to the downloads folder under My documents\my games\ffxiv beta\? (It's somwhere in those folders.... I'm doing this by memory)

Pah, I need to learn to read. I had my "Move completed downloads" to that location, not "Put new downloads." I just did as you suggested and it's working now, thank you.

So there are separate skill/skill levels for 1h/2h sword/axe? Does that mean you would have to level up a Marauder or Gladiator twice?

Anyone been looking into Company functionality? They've been saying guildleves are a means to compete between companies and I assume Armory/Leaderboard type stuff is part of that.

A lot of people seem to be having this issue (I had it too), so I'm going to make a post about this for convenience. If your install, not download, install is giving you an error, there is an 80% chance that it is the "ffxivgame.exe" file on your Final Fantasy XIV Beta folder. (You will generally receive an error code on during the install process, then when you click "Ok" it will close out.) If this is your problem, what you need to do to fix it is remove ffxivgame.exe from the folder, finish the install, and then replace it with the latest version. I'm hosting that particular file here for those who need it.
