    http://www.ffxivcore.com/topic/6996-...from-famitsu/?

Reposted the mob SSs from the last page, and included their descriptions. There's also info about what kind of changes we'll see from the alpha.

    Spoiler: show

    Spriggan
They inhabit a wide range of lands, such as La Noscea, Tinolka (*unsure of spelling), and parts of Thanalan around Ul’dah and are seldom found alone. They are about three fulms (approx. 1m) tall. Spriggans draw their power from stones, and the type of rock they carry can define their abilities and personalities. They dislike unnecessary fights.

    http://www.ffxivcore.com/index.php?a...ttach_id=3038&

    Drake
Fearsome creatures, they will travel surprisingly far distances in search of prey. They measure about eighteen fulms (over 5m) from head to tail. Drakes can be found infesting each region of Eorzea and slay their foes with lightning breath and sweeps of their spiked tails. The scales covering their entire body are as hard as rock, and there are even anecdotes of steel swords breaking upon trying to pierce the more elderly of the species.

    http://www.ffxivcore.com/index.php?a...ttach_id=3040&

    Megalocrab
They can be found in large populations along the coasts of La Noscea. The shell is as tall as the average Midland Hyur. When worse comes to worst, megalocrabs will use their shell as an iron wall of defense. They can even use bubbles of digestive enzymes as weapons when needed. While there are those that enjoy a brisk battle, there are also those that do not. It is rumored that depends on the tides, but that has yet to be confirmed. Green megalocrabs prefer solitude over their red counterparts, which make use of their strong claws, or snippers.

    http://www.ffxivcore.com/index.php?a...ttach_id=3042&

    Bomb
They inhabit dry regions such as La Noscea, Thanalan and Coerthas. Upon finding a living creature, they attack using sparks and attempt to char everything indiscriminately. They measure one fulm, a little larger than the average Hyur’s head. They gradually expand, and there are some eyewitness reports of them reaching the size of a small mountain. It is even said that an entire village was once blown off the map by one.

    http://www.ffxivcore.com/index.php?a...ttach_id=3044&

    Goobbue
They live in the inner regions of La Noscea. Their anatomy is still cloaked in mystery, but it is known they boast an astounding lung capacity and can be dangerous if one gets too close and angers them. They have a symbiotic relationship with the moss the grow on their heads and will supposedly water it during dry seasons. Aside from acting as camouflage, the moss can also act as emergency rations for the goobbue. They are about twenty fulms (or 6m) tall.

    http://www.ffxivcore.com/index.php?a...ttach_id=3046&

    Apkallu
They make their homes in La Noscea on the shores near Limsa Lominsa. They are relatively timid. They have the ability to adjust the causticity of their stomach acid at will and typically use it when feeding their young. They stand approximately three fulms (just shy of 1m) tall.

    http://www.ffxivcore.com/index.php?a...ttach_id=3047&
    http://www.ffxivcore.com/index.php?a...ttach_id=3048&

    Funguar
They inhabit the area of Tinolka (the Black Shroud) near Gridania as well as the wooded regions of Coerthas. They release a large amount of spores, which are said to have a variety of negative effects if came in contact with. Funguar can be eaten depending on how it seasoned; fresh samples make for soft, juicy and extremely delicious dishes.

    http://www.ffxivcore.com/index.php?a...ttach_id=3050&

    Salamander
They can be found near water in La Noscea and Tinolka and also like dark and damp underground areas. They also house an electricity-producing organ in their throat. They become a predatorial beast to be feared when their bellies are not full, and there are records of one swallowing a whole Lalafell in one bite. It measures in lengthwise at 22 fulms (over 6m).

    http://www.ffxivcore.com/index.php?a...ttach_id=3052&

The Link Between Adventurers and Monsters
Adventurers will not necessarily be pitted against all the creatures that make an appearance in-game. While some you may need to kill for your daily meals, others you will have to fend off so you don’t become theirs. And there are yet more that will be used against you by hostile barbarians as well as invading military forces.

Yet another explanation of character creation and the new battle system has been excluded and can be found in other recent translations and posts

    Changes from Alpha
(*once again, repeats have been excluded)
-In addition to the increase of action menu slots to thirty, you also have ten slots for each of your classes as well as ten for crafting abilities, it seems.

-Upgradeable stats from leveling up have been reduced from eight to six.

-Throwing weapons have been added. Upon equipping one, the “Throw” ability becomes available.

-The ability to equip things other than shields in your left hand has been made available.

-The distance from and direction an enemy is facing now have a greater impact.

    -More types of guildleves.

    -Increased level cap.

-Added foods that will temporarily boost player stats.

Actually, I do. The mob SSs had been posted in this thread, at the end of the last page, and without the descriptions. I did not find a link to the xivcore translation anywhere. Do you even read the forums before you berate someone?

Show me where the translation was posted, please.

Remember some people talking about if the level cap would be raised or not, and have not seen this posted....

Changes from Alpha to Beta8 minutes ago by Elmer

Famitsu.com posted a short list of the main differences players can expect as Final Fantasy XIV moves into the beta phase. According to information given at E3, we are only a few short weeks away, so let's take a look at what we can expect!

    * The Effect Gauge, which influenced the accuracy and power of an attack, has been removed.
    * Along with the removal of the Effect Gauge, the function of the Action Gauge has been altered. Previously, the player would need a full Action Gauge to execute a command, whereas now commands instead consume a specific portion of the gauge.
    * The Action Menu, where players can customize their list of actions, has been expanded to 30 slots. There are 10 slots allocated for Traits (class-specific characteristics) and Abilities (crafting-specific characteristics)
    * The "Physical Bonus" system, which affects HP/MP, stats and elemental affinities, has been changed. Now, HP/MP rise automatically along with the player's level and only stats are customizable. Also, the list of stats has been adjusted from 8 to 6. Elemental affinities have been separated and will now require the use of "Elemental Bonus" points to increase.
    * Throwing weapons have been added and can be equipped and used with the "Throw" action.
    * Left/Right Ear 1 and Left/Right Finger 2 equipment slots have been added.
    * New abilities can be set when a shield is equipped.
    * Distance and orientation relative to the enemy will have more of an effect on the battle.
    * The amount and variety of Guildleves has increased.
    * The level cap has been increased.
    * Players can now consume items.
    * Food has been introduced, which is used to temporarily strengthen a player character.
    * A number of changes have been made so the menus and chat logs are easier to read and navigate.

People are getting quite flustered over not being able to gain that oh-so-sweet recognition and acceptance from a group of what, 20 people at most? lol.

I'm loving the design of the mobs; can't wait to go exploring and see something new, right before I die. XD

The new mobs look badass and I'm definitely liking the new beta changes. I hope they adjust XP gain, or make it more intuitive where to go kill shit. I had a hell of a time figuring out what to kill after lvl10 or so. At one point it seemed that we wandered about 8 miles to find mobs that were harder than we previously killed, and they gave *less* xp. It really made no sense.

Spriggans were actually in the alpha, but I've only seen them in dark caves. I don't think there were any pictures because they're hard to see.

I'm almost more excited about the positioning and distance changes than anything else.

    What about this, though?:

"-The ability to equip things other than shields in your left hand has been made available."

I thought this would be more exciting to people.

Guildleve had spriggans. The only one I fought were right outside the city.

I hope they fix the terrible camera that twitch on every object. It's really irritating

Wow, quite a few of those changes sound awesome. Also, some of the mobs look awesome, and their descriptions are really fun to read. I hope we're not always hunting the cutesy creatures like we did in FFXI, it always made me feel bad.

    Awesome:

Can't believe this isn't getting more attention. Anyone have more information on this? For example, can every class dual wield if they so desire? Are there limitations on what can be equipped/negative penalties for doing so?

Now that I reread it, it indeed says you can hold a sword in one hand and a frying pan in the other!

Another question is, will there be separate stamina gauge like there was supposedly separate action gauge in alpha?
