Hyann no one cares what you believe.=D
I care what he believes. Mostly because we're agreeing more often lately. But as soon as he dissents! Death!
Stat points re-allocation. Sorry if it's not new but I didn't know what SE's plan was to avoid messing up your character long-term.
Any idea whether this is only for the beta period?
It's just a severe case of butthurt.
Haters gonna hate etc.
No one knows for sure.Any idea whether this is only for the beta period?
But well, now that it has been implemented, I don't see them taking it away. There's a high chance they'll modify the system based on feedback though.
What worries me and my friends the most is the risk of having permanent stat allocation. It'd just push the crowds to rely on guides very early on. If stats are allowed to be re-allocated every once in a while, well this not only solves that problem but opens up so many great possibilities (various setups during your levelling career, specific setup for specific event).
Can't wait to see how it works.
I like a time restriction on reallocation in theory, depending on how long it is and how well that paces with actual gameplay.
Hrm I dunno if affinity with character's active skill refers to the fact that you'd have similar stats and gear with similar classes or that there's some sort of generic penalty not related to stats if you use Thunder II with a disciple of war. I hope the penalty is transparent so it's clear what is acceptable and what is not.
Respec will definitely be in release. Whether it's on a timer or it costs a bunch of gil or there's a timesink involved is up in the air but it will be there.
Where's the speculation in that reply bro?! I notice you like to really follow the rules by forming all of your elitist commentary into pseudo-speculation. Or are you agreeing that your mother is indeed butthurt from, this is just friendly speculation here, the reaming you guys exchange nightly?
Have they mentioned any type of ability akin to the FFXI 2hr? I really like the the concept, but I haven't seen anything so far hinting at anything of this nature.
WoW comparison incoming, read at your own risk.
FFXI has nice 2 hour abilities, they do cool stuff, once every 2 hours. How fun is it to only have those 'cool' abilities roughly once a play session, maybe twice unless you're able to play all day long.
Warcraft used to have abilities that had longer cooldowns. They took 30+ minutes for some like Shield Wall. The devs however realized that not only was this a pain because if you're fighting something, use the ability and fail, you don't have it available again until 3 or 4 attempts later. That doesn't work well at all when you're first getting into a dungeon and don't overgear it. Beyond that, they also found that the abilities just weren't being used, because people wanted to save them for the perfect moment. Whats the point of having something you almost never get to use? They changed those abilities, making them take no more than 15 minutes between uses, most down to 10 or less. Some needed to be tweaked a bit so they were slightly less powerful, but it did not break the game in any way to make the 'fun' long cooldown abilities take alot less time between uses. If you like using something once every 2 hours because of what it does why wouldn't you be interested in using it every 10-30 minutes instead so you can do that a couple times a play session instead of maybe once or twice a day.
Because it then either gets nerfed, or it sucked in the first place if it doesn't break the game to allow it 5x as often. Both of which make it a "normal" ability. Another good comparison would be DP skills from Aion. I don't want sorcs able to stand there all day and blast people for a gazillion dmg. However once a day, either planned as a strategy, or as an "ohshit", is great.
I agree about 2 hours, in that they were useful but you kind of held on to them and never really used them much, stuff like benidiction may aswell have been called suicide even more reason not to use it.
Personally I don't care that 2 hours aren't in the game this time.
