Sorry for the incoming long post.
Aside from expecting that there will likely be a Mystic class that focuses on healing/defensive magic, I think the current answer to a healing class is simple: make one. Combining skills from Conjurer and Thaumaturge is a simple way to make a healer. For the time being, whatever class-exclusive abilities those two have will probably determine which makes the better healer.
But I think it's a mistake to assume that focused roles will be needed, particularly given that all classes will have MP. Meaning that all classes will probably be expected to equip some kind of useful spell, and what's more useful than curative spells?
I agree. Too often parties fell apart just because nobody wanted the hassle of being the leader. I think this will greatly ease the process of party-building, and maybe even alleviate the effects of elitism. It was easy enough to pass over a DRG who was LFG, but how many of those same people will tell one who joins up on their own that they need to switch or leave?
I believe the intention is to allow you to change jobs more quickly. They pretty clearly separate that it's needed for changing jobs, and ALSO for things in combat. Sounds like separating them. I think if people learn to exploit midbattle job changes, SE will fix it. Armor swapping is a valid concern, though. I doubt that gearswapping would even be very useful early in the game, but I do hope they prevent it. My guess is that you'll only be able to do it out of combat in passive mode.
Isn't XI already like this? I could swear that as long as you have it in your inventory, it automatically remembers what you were last wearing on that job and equips it. I don't know why they couldn't make something similar for XIV that includes skills.

XI has a memory, just not for BLU in terms of skills.
Yea, they have no reason not to do the same for equipment in ffxiv, but considering how skills work now, they should extend it to kills too. It wouldn't have mattered in ffxiv if you could change jobs only in a moghouse; you're already experiencing downtime by having to go back to a city to do this, but in ffxiv you can change right in a field, so i think it would be appropriate if the game remembered what skills you had set for the job before you changed.
I'm sure it'll pop up on their official beta forums, as its a pretty good idea. As it stands now, the only things that stay on your character are things that both of them are qualified to use at that point in time.
FFXIV Random Question: Where can I find those pictures put up a few days ago of the new DOH/DOL classes? One of them was a picture of a Miqo'te culinarian in white, I can't seem to find it anywhere. If anyone could help me out I'd appreciate it! Thanks

Have we gotten any information on attribute effects? I know it took a while for people to learn what they effected, but since we get to chose this time I would like to know what does what. Hope its the same as XI. I would hate to put all my points into DEX thinking it would effect my accuracy, then come to find out that something ridiculous like INT effects accuracy.
iirc i red in some interview that ranger class , was going to be almost full dex
Were the stats something we can reset multiple times, or are we stuck with them, or do we get a limited number of resets?
Pretty sure this got addressed before, but I'm not remembering what was said.
For some reason I'm not comfortable with the idea of having to allocate my statistics this time around, but I can't really do anything about that.
From what we know at the moment, you will allocate them and reallocate them every time you change jobs. There is no limit to the amount of resetting you can do at the moment, but there may be a limit/fee/etc. associated at a later time.
WRONG. u will be able to re-allocate them after a "set amount of time" is the most we have heard. ppl will be able to tell u more tomorrow. They dont want changing jobs to be as easy to XI where u can go from mage to melee to mage in 5 minutes. Want a little bit of thought process behind it
While it would be nice if not a bit over impowering. That would take a bit of time after enough levels.
