They have said that they will change the targeting later on, fortunately!

Having them on a 48 hour cooldown in the retail version wouldn't just be ridiculous, it'd be downright suicidal. Hell Fields of Valor in FFXI is on a 1 in game day cooldown, and this is supposed to be a step forward. I expect to see this changed by final release.
Well, it's not really on a 48h cooldown in theory at least. You can do as many as you like, so it's more like an MMM system but much more crucial to the core game. As long as you group with someone that hasn't done the leve, you can do as many as you want.

I think, (just a theory anyway), that this is SE telling us to group up even if it's just two people and do these things together. There are obvious benefits for doing so:

    1) With a bigger group, you can do harder leves, and get better rewards.. so there's no reason not to invite someone to share a leve with you.

    2) Many would group because it would allow them to do as many leves in a day as they want, and the really casual people with 30mins playtime a day could solo the leve without having to deal with any possible delays or if he has to leave early he won't hurt the group's progress.

But as I've heard the LFG system doesn't work properly yet, they need to fix that shit so we can actually do what they want us to do.

Gotta remove the stop-state when you engage/disengage. Its crippling, especially if they're going to allow you to stack the amount of times you engage/disengage by the number of presses. Accidentally double-tapping it pretty much equals death, even if you tapped it again because you didn't see the confirmation of the first tap due to delay/server lag.

Edit: I just checked the official forums. SE is getting torn up about the abysmal party features and lack of incentives. People reporting a 2 gil reward for 6 stars compared to 3 star difficulty. Hopefully they'll implement changes. Release date isn't that far away.

Guildleves really aren't the entire basis of the game. They're a big feature, but considering you get no EXP from them (or has that changed?), I think SE still expects randomly killing monsters to be the main way to advance.

Hahah, now that gets their attention if something. I bet the JP forums are as tame as ever..

It seems like the JP players are more accepting of what they get... I think the majority would play the game regardless without complaints.

Still a bunch of NAs ranting about FPS limits on those boards. Its hurting my head. I submitted my bug reports and got the fuck out.

They said they would implement something to tag mobs for your party to fight, right?

    Yeah, since looking at FFXI:

JP players just..play the game. NA players make everything a pissing contest so things require perfection.

Oh its hot on the forums. People are being very polite in their responses, but we are all pretty passionate about some of this stuff getting changed before launch. I don't think anyone wants launch to be an extended beta test for the PS3ers.

I just threw up a few new "suggestions" on the forums. I can't wait to see new changes as the weeks go on.

And Qpoiuwer, SE said that they designed leves as a reasonable way to advance in the game, not just for people with no free time to play. Leves were a great way to get some extra gear in slots that the armor shop didn't stock. Its kind of annoying to think that with this massive recast timer, you'll have leveled past the range to use the starter items the leves can provide because you simply couldn't try the leve again in hopes of getting the item. These items are not promised - they're random each time in some of these leves.

Its frustrating to provide loot as a reward for a certain level, but not provide the activity that provides said loot enough times so the person can actually get the loot for that level, ESPECIALLY when it was already done in an earlier build, and positive feedback was given for it.

im guessing the rewards wont ever scale up retardedly high, you might get an extra 200 gil for a 2k lev, thats a 10% bonus, also you used to be able to turn in old levs for boosts, dunno if that will be in this one. yeah seeing abonus of one gil sucked but then again the entiere leve was like 96 gil so what does one really expect, i dunno.

I think the chests are lev related, but i could be wrong, i only saw them while i was doing leves

the stopping when disengaging thing to me sounds normal, why should you be able to run super easy with no risk? i mess up on it too, but thats me messing up. i was able to escape most the times i tried, only failed when i was pushing teh envelope. taking off targeting and not pressing active/ready button too much i attribute to skill. personally my run away tactic goes like, run first then target disengage then active mode off, just because im less likely to overpress teh animation if im not waiting for it.

whether they are or are not will depend on how they implement it, and as far as exp, you get exp for killing the mobs, and you can tweak the level of those mobs by picking harder difficulties, it works out pretty well when your finding diffuclty finding mobs or killing challenging ones.
when your at teh sweet spots its easier to level off of random mobs, but sometimes you dont know where the mobs that wont kill you or suck are, and you dont have to worry about people killing everything. also the level 10 + leves are super worth it in terms of money and gear. i can see why people miss it, but i dont think it has to be the old way either

The chests only appear during leves. I received a total whopping 160 gil between 2 chests during leves. That's certainly going to break the economy.

And really, skill? What other game forces you to stop while putting a weapon away so you can get your speed back up? Oh, right, FFXI did. So lets just use the same engine there. (For you, Hyan-chan~!)

One thing flows into another and creates problems. If the /check system wasn't broken, you'd know the ranges of everything you fight, and wouldn't have to escape as much. If your system simply involves grinding on mob A, then moving to mob B when mob A checks blue, then moving to mob C when B checks blue, the congratulations; you've just made a korean MMO.

I hold SE to slightly higher standards than that, because I know they can DO better than that, and specifically when I'm blowing 80 bucks on the game, plus monthly fees.

It still is, just in a different way than before... it's no wonder people won't adapt to the new system immediately, especially with the LFG system being.. broken? right now.

Oh its completely fubared right now, but they can patch that up. Shit, the game is still fun, but the thing that messed me up more than anything was the keyboard controls. How you gonna give pad controllers full options for configuration but ignore the board, then CHANGE it to some absurd control set?

For shame, SE! I'd wager that we'll be seeing that keyboard "fix" by Tuesday's test, given how much flak they caught for it.

actually in ffxi there was no dif in running speed with or without your gear up. Personally i dont mind the check system, it pretty much the same as it was before, all its telling you is your level vs the mobs (skill level) in a broad term, sure you sometimes get owned, but thats where knowledge and and what not comes in, somethings are easier for people with different builds. I dunno whats the difference between moving to mob a when blue and moving to mob a when your 1 level above it. Honestly dif mobs behave differently and have different strengths the level dif is just a rough idea, theres no way they can take into account your job the mobs weakness, what skills or gear you have equipped. In this game i think thats even more important than level difference, and i think its a good thing

far as the running away thing , they could make it easier but i think the panic aspect is part of the run away process, and other than panicking there is virtually no chance for most of these mobs to kill you otherwise they tend to be slow, and take long between attacks. unless of course you picked something really crazy, then your dead in one or two hits.

I thought I saw somebody killing a sheep in beta get 300+ skill points from the kill (where rats and moles were like 30ish.)
From what I noticed.. From Alpha to Beta:

They reduced the amount of weapon skill points you need to rank up.
Partying now has an exp penalty, positive there was no penalty in Alpha.

Partying was definitely faster than soloing, as it should be.

Yeah I think this is how you get the best results.. after that you can look for more people and do their leves even if you're capped already.

It looks like it's shaping up to be a grouping game again.
