The random complaint thread is mostly made up of "this player sucks" "we can't clear this encounter" and "my shit didn't drop". That topic is hardly relevant against how good the game is.

Also: I could say I alt tabbed and went on follow while doing Molten Core and compare that to how awesome and fun and fast paced Salvage is, and that'd be a retarded comparison. That's exactly the comparisons a few of you have been making though, only with the games switched. Note: I'm not saying anything from the current XI-game beats anything from the current WoW-game in terms of fun or epicness (as I think ultimately this will depend on the individual that's doing them), but for the love of god, think of some better examples.

To clarify my position: I think FFXI is a horrible game except for a couple things, but most of you aren't doing a good job at sounding differently than the SE-fanboys you complain about.

So you leeched a molten core run? fascinating, I'm pretty sure he was talking about playing the game up to it's potential in both scenarios, where as you failed in seeing that that's the comparison he was making. Also on the most recent page of the random complaint thread I see people complaining that the 10man structure is awful right now being as the 10man loot pales in comparision to 25 (this obviously has to do with the game and if you can't see that you're a retard.) and I see a complaint about the ToS not covering ninja-looters very well, which also pertains to the game.

i wanted to hear some well-informed or interesting speculative posts about how FFXIV might be more difficult (not to use a loaded word) than i'm expecting based on the very very limited amount of info so far released to the public.

there's nothing wrong with talking about an unreleased game. it's an internet forum. it doesn't cost anything to have a conversation, and it doesn't cost anything to stay out of the conversation either. if the subject matter offends or bores you, simply ignore the topic.

So far, FFXIV solo is brain dead like every other mmo on the market, including XI (engage, mash key, collect reward). The grinding itself is much faster than FFXI, and probably as fast as WoW (if 1 level in wow vs 1 level in ffxiv, which is most likely wrong since we don't know the cap and how many 2nd job you will need to level).

I havent experienced serious party yet (no need so far), but the dynamics can't possible change that much early.

If you want xp grinding that makes you feel special because other people gave up, there is no such thing yet. If you want some genuine difficulty, it's still way too early to tell.

That was already being said. I was putting reasoning behind it. See, a lot of people with FFXI-only experience don't know what other MMO's do for difficulty, they don't get it. I know back when I still played FFXI, I didn't get what WoW was like at all. And I also had that burning hatred of anything WoW like so many others that I didn't care to learn about it.

FFXI hasnt changed that much since 2005. It's doing much better in a lot of place, but the issue back then are still issue you will have to go through in 2010.

How how things change, but I still believe the only reason people cannot handle "debates" is because people are intrinsically resistant to hear anything that doesn't adhere to what they are currently engaged in.
