You don't need to be "cure-bombed" for any of those things.
Spoiler: show
lol@blood tanking. If a PLD is doing his job right, he shouldn't be using Aegis at all because his shadows will be absorbing all of the attacks.
oh, and I solo tanked "Yilbacanator" on NIN/DRK, and that didn't have an Aegis. we didnt have 4, but we had 7 with three 2 boxed charactors.
SAM with 3rd eye merits and a solid PDT set can get away with tanking any mob that can be slow elegied and not have to sub NIN. With the cap change DDs have a much easier time pulling and holding hate then PLDs. Our PLDs generally go Sword/Sword once the DDs have hate on the mob.
If your DDs are tanking then why are you bringing plds? I'm not being an ass, I just genuinely don't understand. Unless you're talking about times when you have a boatload of people and are fighting multiple things, some of which DD can't tank and don't wanna be messing with job swaps?
Sam + Aegis is the best tank party combo! We've been using that on a lot of random stuff lately including Tia and Lambton (and Sam does really well on both, regardless of being unable to melee some of the time).
That pisses me off to no end, seriously. I can't even count as high as the number of times an arrogant mage has raged on me for making the tank party as SAM/NIN. I wish I was at home to post a screenshot of this chick who just recently left my shell. She declined my party invite like three times, spamming in LS for an invite to the tank party, finally screaming in LS that SAM is not a tank. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
This is very true, but you don't need an Aegis to cap block rate with shield. This means an Aegis results in you taking a little less damage when blocking and a little less magical damage from spells, nothing game breaking by any standards... at least that's the point I was trying to make, and put it in terms that fool could understand.
