Something similar happens to me sometimes as well, except for me whenever I have vivid dreams where I can remember a lot of details, I'm always extremely tired when I wake up, regardless of how long I slept.

Why are people suggesting hypnotics? The OP can sleep fine. The problem is feeling unrested after waking.
I'd suggest making sure you are relaxed before going to bed. Be active during the day so you are sleepy at night. Staying away from hypnotics as these reduce REM sleep and infact might make things worse.
You might also want to go to your doctor if this doesn't get better. There could be an underlying illness that is making you feel tried during the day / when you wake.
I can't really suggest anything for the eye problem thou it might be worth trying artificial tears?
Well feeling unrested after waking indicates he isn't in fact sleeping fine.
Assuming he is getting sufficient hours of sleep, it is probably an issue with sleep quality. Which drugs may or may not help with depending on the cause.
That always happens to me if I don't work out/do anything physical during the day.. although in my case I wake up lively but still feel like I haven't got enough sleep.
Dunno if that helps or what kind of person you are, but good hour or 2 of exercise has always helped me at least.
No I don't snore in my sleep, and I'm probably the farthest thing from over weight as possible, 5'6" 120Lbs, haven't put on a put on a pound in 4 years.
I was waiting to see something like this hah, and no it doesn't workit only leads to disappointment because it could have been something much greater that could have happened sometime after work.
It's not so much that I'm having troubles falling asleep, its that when I am asleep, my eyes open by themselves very gradually, sometimes I wake up with my eyes half open, sometimes I wake up with my eyes open as if I'm just staring off into space.
i say dont take ambien, if you force your self awake before it wears off (well in my case anyways) i was really depressed all day for no damn reason.
I had the same issue myself. I started on Trazodone (it's great, $4 perscription) and haven't had an issue since. It's actually used as an anti-depressant / anti-anxiety pill but has the nice side effect of knocking your ass out.
Don't take Tylenol PM. In fact, you should avoid Tylenol altogether; shit destroys your liver and doesn't even work as a pain reliever. Take like 200mg of generic benadryl (that's what the "PM" is anyway) and have a fap if you really need to pass out.
In the mean time, you could get some vitamin B12 pills, preferably the whole foods kind, to help with the feeling tired. I don't always sleep the best, but I take four a day and I manage to feel pretty good.
