This is a simple guide for posting on update day. This coming update will probably have as much incoming information as the day of a full expansion release, and to prevent the forum from turning into a shit storm a few simple precautions can be taken to keep things under control.
1. Don't make any new threads - This is probably going to be handled by the moderating staff, and they do it for a reason. If you find something you think is new, it is likely the case that at least ten other people have already seen it. Everyone loves being the "first" to make an important thread, but update day is not the best time to do that.
2. .dats in the .dat thread, discussion in the discussion thread - Don't muck things up. The .dat miners are going to be working hard, give them their space to give us the information we want. There is going to be a lot of jaw-dropping information, but that doesn't mean the forums turn into a free-for-all.
3. Did you see Cait Sith? - Yes, we did for the eight hundredth time. Read the entire thread before you post. Think before you post. Ask yourself if your post is contributing or if it is just an exclamation of joy. If it is the latter, then keep it in your pants, junior.
4. Credit where credit is due - If you are going to post information you got from another site or someone else, then make sure you credit them in your post. Tummie tends to post on Alla first, so if you are going to link it here, then make sure you state that you got it from Tummie. The same goes for Spira, and all of the other .dat miners.
5. No "my job" threads - Do you love the new BLU spells? Great, there is a thread for that. Are you pissed that RDM didn't get more? Great, talk about it in discussion. Do you think PUP is the best job in the world? You're an idiot, don't make a new thread. On update day, new threads are for discussions about mechanics, important discoveries, and new information, they are not for posting opinions. If you just want to voice your opinion, do it in a thread that has already been made.
If we all work together we can make this the best update day ever!
