Personally all the irritation with no drops and RMT etc are still a part of the fond memories for me. Just a glutton for punishment I suppose.

Just when I was feeling good from being FFXI-free, with no withdrawal syndrome, and XIV was announced on the E3. Anyway that 2-year break helped me up getting the stuff in order, too bad I won't have 20 hours a day to play this time around.

I gave up XI two years ago and didn't feel much of a pull for XIV until these last 2 months. I don't really want to go back to how utterly addicted I was to XI, but then again I do have uber amounts of free time anymore. My life is pretty good now, but I feel that if I start playing XIV I will be dragged back into what I was like when XI was a big part of my life.


I think I will wait until Christmas at least to decide what I will do.

Suppose I'll give it a shot. I'm also hoping to reunite with old Asura friends. I was active in endgame from about '04 til about '07 when I started winding down. Got to the point where I had done nearly everything in the game, countless times over. Fell into a few arguments with my linkshell and basically said fuck it, because I wasn't even having any kind of fun anymore. A couple of months down the line, I have a job and other commitments, so I don't think I'd have time for FFXI, even if I felt like playing it.

However, several comments by SE about the casual nature of FFXIV, as well as the exp cap per week has made me seriously consider giving it a go.
