This thread with all the melee summoners that joined in 2005-08 amazes me.

I quit FFXI idk... mid 2008 I think... and while I did look back on my decision, I decided to start again with a new character. That lasted 2 weeks. Quit again.

I can only hope FFXIV brings back those memories and make new ones. I hope I can make friends like I did in FFXI even though I had that much more enemies.

Had FFXi since launch, I part-time-quit FFXI 2 times then totally quit around 2006 due to it taking 45 minutes to set up XP parties, long travel times, etc. so I am looking forward to FFXIV. As soon as I heard about the teleport system I was hopeful I would not run into this problem again.

I left XI because I got into a row with Customer Service about giving me the run-around over being double charged. I still look back on the community pretty fondly, but, my relationship with the company itself is downright sour.

It's understandable that if you got the short end of the stick you wouldn't want to try the new game.

But most of us only had few unhelpful GM's or something minor that doesn't really affect the experience in the long run. Sure we all read about the shittiness that is SE CS but at least in my case I haven't had a problem with them. And really, in the end I couldn't care less what happened to other people as long as I'm not affected. Same shit as in RL.

If I'm the one getting banned for no reason or something else then I'll be pissed, and rightfully so. Not gonna worry about it though, same chance as getting ran over by a car while walking on the street pretty much >_>

Wow, that is awesome :D Makes me wish I kept all my old FFXI screenshots, but I lost them with a hard drive failure.

My dilemma as well. Honestly I'll probably give it a shot. Tried other MMOs and nothing stuck like FFXI.

I also learned how much trouble playing FFXI kept me out of <.<

Need a hobby like that to keep me at home and safe again, lol.

Keeping them is risky. Both times I came back after quitting it was when I was randomly going through my backups and stumbled upon my "FFXI" folder.

Still debating whether I want to return to my old identity...hook up with old friends, LSs etc. Or just start fresh. I feel like it's been so long, I've changed so much, that all of my in game friends probably have too. Plus I miss launch era FFXI when everyone was new and wanted to be social.

I quit XI almost 2 years ago because I was playing endgame content for 6 hours a night, 6 nights a week, and the only day I had off I spent 8+ hours leveling a new job. Kinda burned myself out bigtime. Aboslutely loved the game, but I had to stop or drive myself insane. Quit cold turkey, never looked back.

Played WoW for about a year and 1/2 to complete some unfinished buisness. Killed the Lich King and moved on. Now I'm awaiting XIV. Hopefully it'll be just as enjoyable and challenging as XI, with less of a time investment, which I'm very confident it will be.

I played, left, then came back to FFXI. I play very little (will probably cancel again after the mog bonanza drawing), but I can't wait for XIV.

Been on the fence since I heard of its release. On one hand it looks great and I loved my time in FFXI. On the other, I have a life and barely the time to play this.

Only reason I quit XI is because I had shit stolen from me and it pissed me off to no end. I really have to make a decision because I won't get into an RPG if its out for over a few months. I am an extremely competitive person and I like to be the best of the best. Was one of the great things about FFXI. Being 'great'

In all honesty, I am not much of an MMO person. Tried others after FFXI but couldn't get into any.

I took multiple breaks from the game, mostly because of school, but I haven't played in over a year. I officially quit because I eventually got bored. My main job was almost perfectly equipped sans relic of course, my bone was 103 with subs at 61/61 and my fishing was 60+ and I was leveling that.. and trying to +1 my gear. (I had signed myself a pair of dragon leggings+1 shortly before quitting..) I wanted to level another job but pick up groups were boring. Played WoW for a while during one of my breaks and found it more boring than ffxi- the PvP was fun though.

But yeah, can't wait to actually start ffxiv. Kind of irked that I haven't gotten into alpha or beta at all yet. I want to use my awesome computer for something besides tf2.

We are the same my friend, gimmie something to push my new machine ...i built this rig for FFXIV which still hasnt come out and only thing i play is SC2 betaq till it ended ...sooo now upgrading this system more for ffxiv and still havent played it wtf??? hahah
