I should be coming back for it. I played for a few years then quit back in 08 due to some financial issues. Now i'm in the military so I dunno how everything will work out until I get settled in but I will be playing one way or another.

Coming back from a year off WOW and many moons off FFXI... Did get my Lu Shang's Rod and it paid for Ranger too 70... Guess I may be one of few who remembers RNG Nerf... Kinda gave in after that... lasted a bit after it, but cost me soo much just to get dang RNG up with Excelent gear for them to kick me in the privates.

Yeah... I actually was almost capped or capped when they added that... Honestly I hated it after they changed it. Was kinda fun before, and they basically made fishing useless after that...

Might as well post I quit FFXI in 2006 because I didn't have enough time between my school and boyfriend and was pretty broke. I pretty much only logged in for Dynamis.

Can't wait for XIV, going to miss my little taru but ditching that in favor of knees!

Same story here, OP! XIV seems to have eliminated the many factors that made me lose steam in XI, so I'm quite excited to be hooked for only the right reasons!

I played on Odin when the game was released in the US. Only for about 6 months but it was a great time and I met a lot of awesome and nice players.

After a 6 year long break i am really looking forward to the successor of my favourite MMORPG.

I cant tell you one name from someone I grouped with two days ago in WoW. But I can tell you all five names of my static party in XI from 4 years ago (Rahvin, Lynndis, Sparky, Semo (6th was always a random pickup melee).

I hope 14 gives us all that same feeling again and I cant wait to see old friends.

Nostalgia is a hell of a drug... and I can relate about PCA and when I finally got the drop the surge of excitement followed by relief that I felt knowing I didn't have to come back to that hell-hole of a time-sink was pretty epic. However when it was PCC only thing I can remember is not so epic frustration about how hardcore 24/7 bots were during that time. It was pretty ridiculous on my server their were 16 RMT 24/7 on Argus and Leech King (12 on Argus 4 on Leech King respectively). Too further add to the bad nostalgia seeing one person constantly in the selling history when you watched some other RMT kill it after a bot claim was enough to make you rage. However I guess that's the way it worked out for me, remember the good and repress the bad with all your might.
(Funny how this was also the same story for me with Mee Deggi the Punisher only 50 times worse)

Quite a late reply, but here goes anyway. I as well remember the days when Argus dropped the PCC instead of PCA and it was nearly impossible for anyone outside the RMTs to ever get claim on him, unless you were like the luckiest person on earth and logged in the maze after a maintenance and found Argus before anyone else. I personally didn't even bother to try him at that time.

And since you mentioned Mee Deggi the Punisher, I have to admit that I had some rather bad experiences with that NM as well. For a very long time I used to camp Deggi to get the r/ex kote to replace the AHable ones I was using, but it never dropped. I stopped counting after 0/50 or so. But in the other hand, I got the r/ex kyahan from Quu Domi on the first kill, so I guess the lack of luck with Mee Deggi was the games way to punish me for all that good stuff.
