    PS3 Beta is broken?

So I recently ran the Benchmark and as it turns out, my graphics card is nowhere near powerful enough (I couldn't even break 600 on low res wtf)

So in light of this I tried to switch my beta app to PS3... but apparently unless you've bought & registered FF13, you can not sign up for the PS3 bet only PC!

Has anyone else had this occur? I tried contacting SE about it and they more or less told me to go fuck myself... I mean not in those exact words, but they deferred me to the beta site which fucking requires you have been accepted into the beta in the first place.

    SE customer service strikes again...

Yes, you need a copy of a first run printing of FFXIII to get into the PS3 beta. They got to make that money somehow, I suppose.

honestly, i think if you've been accepted into beta, i dont think it matters what platform you play on, if you're able to get your hands on the PC client.

I'm hoping that I'll be able to download the PS3 beta client when it releases to be able to compare the difference...

Well, to be honest, nobody but SE knows how they'll draw for the beta. Much less the PS3 beta.

We know for a fact that other companies are taking advantage of the XIV beta by holding their own promotions, for a shot at beta. HP in Japan is a good example. And I'm sure many more will follow soon enough for the PS3 version in due time.

Playstation Plus subscribers could also be a potential spot for gathering PS3 testers. Service is going to be up and running later this month, a couple of weeks before XIV is scheduled to begin. What better way to kick off a new service for Sony in the beta key department then having draws for XIV?

We'll have to wait and see...but I'm willing to bet the peeps who registered their copy of XIII, and were part of the first batch, get dibs for the PS3 beta. And once it goes open beta, I'm sure the PS3 is also in the picture.

It seems like the FF13 Prereg code gives priority beta access to 14 (as well as some random in-game item "at a later date")
Enter for a potential opportunity to become a beta tester for FINAL FANTASY XIV for PlayStation 3!
The promotional code also allows you to apply now for a potential opportunity to become a beta tester for FINAL FANTASY XIV for PlayStation 3. Click the link that appears below the FINAL FNATASY XIV promotional code and enter using the official beta tester application form.
But from the form it doesn't seem like it's required, just gives you priority.

That being said, I have a PS3 Promo code I'm not going to use...

Some people who only applied for the PS3 beta got into the PC alpha stage 2, so as Spira said, I assume when they added the PS3 users to the beta anyone with a beta invite will have access to the PS3 client if they wish.

... what do you want for it >_>

I mean, unless my PC app goes through and I'm selected, and then get to tell them my PC doesn't meet the reqs and they change it for me, idk what else to do. But as is, since they have my PC specs form my 1st app, they've probably figured my machine can't run it so they'll skip over me.

Really makes me sad - _ - playing XI since NA launch & I have 14 pre-orded and paid in full @ Gamestop... but I still want to get in on the Beta for the unique experience.

The recently added beta testers were mostly PS3 applicants. I applied for the PS3 beta and my e-mail says to participate in the PC alpha for now.
My PC can't run FFXIV so I'll just wait for beta as it's around the corner (hopefully PS3 beta starts at the same time).
I'm pretty sure you can just download the PS3 client if you're accepted, they'll just let you input your SE account data somewhere.

I wonder if Square Enix will have the beta client downloadable from the PSNetwork or if they're going to be sending out software discs by mail. PS3 users ain't getting into the upcoming beta, they'll get invited into the second phase of the beta. Two months of beta version 1 then two months of beta version 2 and then one month of open beta. That sounds about right.

No better way to test the infrastructure than to have it on on downloads to begin with. FFXI's PS2 was a completely different case (used a non-standard PS2 HDD and the sysreq didn't demand broadband) and shouldn't really be used as a precedent. The HDD I might add, was shipped to you to test the hardware in addition to FFXI, and it was required that you shipped the HDD back to Sony for inspection when the beta ended (they included a return sticker with the package when it first arrived, if I recall correctly).

In any case, I don't recall having to list an address in the English application, but it certainly has been a while. And I don't think you'd download it from PSN, either. Something more like using the in-house browser and getting a package installer from SE directly.

I believe you did have to register your address when you signed up for beta.

But tbh to the Original Poster, you probably knew your PC wasn't up to snuff and SE were pretty clear about how the PS3/PC situation worked so I don't know why you seem surprised.

No, they didn't ask for an address when you signed up for either beta. There's really no need as the PS3 has PSN+ internet browser for client download.
Unless they randomly choose applicants I believe the PS3 beta will happen sooner than people think.
I didn't lie in my PC specs and it's clear that mine can't run FFXIV.
Considering I applied for the PS3 and was invited already I doubt the beta is that far.
That's assuming the selection isn't random and they actually read the specs.

    They didn't?

Also there's a reason why it would be better to just send the disks directly to the chosen.

The PS3 beta will -not- happen sooner than later, because the PS3 doesn't need testing, it's not a dynamic system, it's static. They only need initial testing (in-house) and stress testing (Phase 2 which is basically stress testing anyway.)

Nvm I found it, that is the most retarded shit ever, SE needs to hire some website designers to make it easier to navigate.

Actually, they asked for your computer specs in the application and then they proceeded to give a ton of alpha invites to people who can't run the game. The alpha forums are littered with people who got accepted but can't play. Why they were selected when SE knew their systems wouldn't run it......well ask SE.
