US has a shitty tracking system for sales, unlike Japans Media Create and Europes Chart-Track.

NPD only release the top 10 games (think they lowered it to 5 now) to public and they release monthly instead of weekly like other parts of the world, so VGChart is the best thing you will get short of NPD releasing LTD sales, or the publisher.

EDIT: And I have to say, NPD only includes US sales, VGChart supposedly include Canada sales in with 'Americas'. I'm guessing latin americas too, but I doubt that would make a difference much.

I don't disagree, it's just the number seem off, even with the price drop. You will see 20-30% increases very often, but 500%? I know it had excellent review and all, but something still feel wrong.

Sega America's official blog noted that sales of Valkyria Chronicles skyrockted 400 percent from March to April. The site states the game is now in "tens of thousands" of brand new homes!

Could have been more prints of the game. I remember there being a ton of people complaining about not being able to find the game anywhere very shortly after release.

If they are going bankrupt, that's probably why they aren't porting this one. With symphonia success, I dont see why they wouldnt tempt their chance again on the wii.

I can understand that, but what baffles me is that they don't seem to be willing to let anyone else localize the game. Let XSeed or maybe even Atlus publish the game overseas and at least get something.

Or hell, ask Nintendo. Nintendo has published a good deal of titles from outside the company this gen. If Namco went to them and asked for a little help on Graces, they could probably get it done.

Bestbuy

That should be all the info you need as to why NPD is worthless, it doesn't even include figures from the top two game retailers who represent like 50%+ of sales.

I know, but they don't disregard them. They estimate sales from companies that don't comply with them. They're more accurate than VGChartz, but they aren't exact either.

But like I said, doesn't matter anyway because unlike VGChartz they only release the data from month to month and only release data for the top 10 (now 5) software titles.

The only reason I havent sold my Wii is the fact that Graces was supposed to be coming out for it. Given this recent news, I'm starting to doubt I will ever see Graces or even Vesperia(ps3).

Tales games have been very solid, with only a one or two bad apples in the series.

Not sure if this is the thread to post it in, but feck it.

A guy at GameFaqs recently released a patch for ToG that translates most of the menu/items/titles. It's being updated constantly by the dude, so you'll have to read through the thread to get the latest version of the patch, but it's pretty nice.

There's also a team of guys that are translating the whole game at the moment. They're the same people that translated Fatal Frame 4.

That's pretty cool, I might get a Wii now just to play that. I wish that a translation patch could be made for Vesperia PS3 but I doubt it'll happen because of how "secure" it is.

If your PC isn't ass you could always emulate it if it's the only thing on Wii that interests you. From what I understand Graces works really well on Dolphin.

All he did was translate the dolphin executable, which has all the menu/status/item/etc stuff, yeah...

Unless he messes around with other files, he isn't going to be getting any of the actual story or anything like that translated. I don't know how skilled he is, but editing the dol isn't too hard so idk.

Not to disappoint anyone If he doesn't, I'm sure someone else will or something.

Yeah, Graces can be played with the Classic Controller, so no motion bullshit needed.

Edit: @Julian: He says he only plans on translating the stuff you just listed. It may be for that reason, I dunno. It's the other guys (Fatal Frame 4 translators) that are translating the whole game.

I always got the feeling RPG fans jumped to the PS3 initially as the PS2 was pretty the previous console's leader in titles released for the genre. Meanwhile, those more interested in FPS, sports, or select action types of games were more suited for the 360. This generation has done a bit of a 180 with more RPGs coming out for the 360 as opposed to the PS3, but Japan itself hasn't been the biggest fan of the 360 and I'd still call the number of released RPGs on the whole small given the amount of time these systems have been around.

And yeah, advertising has always sucked for RPGs. Aside from the FF games, only ones I can recall get ads in the past few years were Lost Odyssey and maybe Last Remnant. If you're not Halo, GTA (or spin-off), or some kinda God of War game, GTFO...

Plenty of RPGs get commercials. I don't even watch TV often and I've seen plenty.

Never one for a 'Tales of' game though.

It's not even just TV. Tons of RPGs get ads in magazines, websites, etc. Not once have I ever seen Tales advertised anywhere.

There are tons of games that get advertised well past the ones you've mentioned, you even forgot two of the games that had the largest ad campaigns in the last year.
