I'm afraid I can't let you play that, Dave.
I've have a friend who's on his 4th 360, but they've all died while under warranty, so it's been no cost to him.
Saw this on Sankaku (NSFW)

With it being a new model, if it ends up being that they are just as likely to RDoD as the originals, I see people brandishing their pitchforks again as we've all more or less become accustomed to it on the older ones.
When I got to my fourth 360 I traded it for a PSP.
I don't think the disc thing is that big of an issue, unless the slightest tap completely fucks the disc up. Most, if not ALL consoles shouldn't be moved while in operation, starting back with the PS2. Laser scratches/burns are the worst fucking thing ever.
Only 1 RROD for me ever. If it ever happens again i'll probably end up switching to a ps3 unless microsoft has some amazing offer or something for me.
Also when i went to send that xbox in, the lady at the UPS store knew exactly what to do, like its a regular procedure she does every day...
lets just say i have severe doubts on this new model.
If its under warrenty that's an even greater excuse to let go of any hopes you had with the console line up, sure there are a few people who claim 'oh I've never experienced a RRoD before, because my Xbox has the limited addition Jesus Christ chip in it, where when it dies it just resurrects from the grave and goes another 50 miles and then repeats itself 9 times over'
and honestly their new advertisement slogan lol, here today, ready for tomorrow makes me think of this

now that is ready for tomorrow, I wonder if the packaging comes with its own box this time so you don't have to call them up and let them know.
I understand what you're saying, but he got a Xbox to play games, and although there is that period of a week or however long it takes for them to send it back where he can't, it's still a cheaper alternative than calling it quits on the Xbox just cause it RRoD and getting a PS3. Personally, I have a PS3 and am fine with it, but if I ever got a 360, I think I honestly would accept the RRoD as one of those occurrences you can't get past -- like a period when there are no good games coming out or something. That said, that's a terrible factor to become the norm associated with the 360's legacy..
If you xbox rrod(rdod whatever) that is the end of the contract no? How where all 4 under the contract? I got a used xbox, when it blows I'm done with the 360 for good. 3 ps3 not one has had a hiccup yet my 360(first) stopped working after abreast months. I still don't understand how Ms can even live in the market with such a defective product.
To all the people complaining about the disc scratching, it's too expensive to do that, $.25 per console, M$ is gonna go bankrupt by doing that!
MS needs to fire the PR guy who even decided to put out such a statement. All it does is exacerbates the issue with some bullshit aesthetic change. Once my current 360 dies I'm done with MS, my Wii sees more usage. Unless there's a shitty PS3 port or a sweet Xbox Live exclusive, the shit collects dust.
I hate that people keep buying 360s after they die. It tells MS they can keep making shitty hardware.
