    Major Conenction Issues

    Halp please.

I don't know if it's the router or the USB stick thing I use to connect to the internet.

It used to be fine but ever since I reinstalled WoW it's been giving me hell.

It'll DC me every few minutes. I thought it might be WoW itself, but it's doing it when I am not even running WoW now. :/

Is it the router or the USB stick probably? I know this is very vague and I am sorry, but it's getting on my nerves.

Wireless connection, DSL (I'm fairly certain) - Cisco Linksys USB stick thing I've restarted the router and that doesn't seem to help. I don't think many people are ON the connection either as there is a password.

I can't run a cable to my room, I don't think otherwise I'd do that as I've always hated wireless crap.

    Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Edit: To give more detail the little connection symbol at the bottom of my screen in the sysbar normally says "Local and internet" when the DC happens it says "Local only"

Also, I suck at spelling topics apparently, my bad. :/

I'd lean toward it being an issue with the USB adapter or your PC itself. Just to be sure though, plug a laptop or something into your router and see if it still disconnects.

I'd try reinstalling the drivers for the usb stick, and even switch it to another USB port and see if it helps any. Those sticks are notoriously flaky and are prone to just stop working sometimes.

I did move it to other USB ports. No go. I'll try reinstalling the adapters.

If this doesn't clear up by tomorrow, I am going to get a card from Best Buy and pray that it's just problems with the USB stick -- Normally hate buying from them but meh, I'd like to be able to play tomorrow. :/

    Nope, didn't help.

I am going to go test the Landlady's laptop, see if this is happening on hers.

All USB wifi adapters are shit for anything non-casual. You'll definitely notice the difference with a card. You can find some good ones on newegg for $15-$25.

I'll second this.. When I switched from my old PCI adapter to a USB one a couple years ago, I started having SERIOUS connection problems. I traced the problem to the antenna - it just wasn't large enough to pick up and keep a good signal.

I recently picked up a new Draft-N PCI adapter and discovered the same problem - the antennas it came with were very small. To fix the problem I bought an extended antenna array and hooked it up, then made a "dish" out of aluminum foil as an added measure. This gave me just enough boost on the signal to make the connection much more solid.
