Does anyone know if there's a way to transfer your store downloads if you get another system? I want the red one, but I also want my free games they promise, even if they are shitty.

Sad part about the 3DS is, its lacking in software and I am playing more with my IPAD then wiht the 3DS. Where are all the castlevanias, NEW Zeldas, Marios, Mega Mans etc ._.

atm it feels like my money wasnt invested very good :/

More bad news for current 3DS owners!

Nintendo is preparing both an external second circle pad add-on for the 3DS, as well as an entirely new model which "radically tones down" the system's 3D capabilities, according to insider sources.
French site 01Net has published the first in a four part report detailing how the platform holder is currently in turmoil over the direction to take its new handheld following disappointing launch sales.
While some of its claims seem rather out-there, the site has pedigree - it correctly broke news of Wii U and PlayStation Vita specs before both machines' respective announcements earlier this year.
According to its source, who it describes as "one of the very few Nintendo employees to dare break the code of silence", the company is currently working on a detachable second circle pad for the handheld.
Apparently the decision not to include two analogue sticks in the initial system build is a source of great regret at Nintendo HQ and was a result of the production process being rushed to ensure the system launched before the PlayStation Vita.
Nintendo's engineers are reportedly spending "sleepless nights" fine-tuning the add-on, which will sell for "about $10".
The source added that the platform holder has asked "a select group of developers" to work on titles for the peripheral, though third parties are growing increasingly disgruntled at Nintendo's approach.
As well as the dual analogue attachment, the insider also claimed that Nintendo is preparing a second iteration of the console for release in 2012.
The new version will "radically tone down" the system's 3D features, possibly rebranding the machine entirely. It was suggested that the recent price cut was planned partly as a means to get rid of stocks of the launch 3DS, clearing the way for a successor.
Finally, the source reported widespread third party frustration at the limited availability of 3DS dev kits. There is still reportedly a long waiting list for the units nearly six months after launch, with only 300 units being made a month.
According to 01Net's mole, development of the kits has been outsourced away from Nintendo's internal Intelligent Systems division to Tokyo Electric and Marubeni.

I played the OoT Demo and the 3D Was really cool... But, with all this news its a toss up if i bother buying it or not.

They have time to not repeat the same mistakes with the WiiU. Having games people want to play at launch would help, for one. Not branding it as an incremental upgrade to old hardware would be another. Granted the name is already a step in the wrong fucking direction but again, there's time.

Depends on if you're desperate to play Nintendo 64 games with sharper graphics in 3D or not. Otherwise wait until mario kart/mario land hit. The inevitable pokemon releases will make the system unskippable but that could be a year from now.

I dunno... I've thought about it for Resident Evil and Luigi's Mansion but really, do we have any reason to believe this isn't first generation hardware? I'm not talking about the 2nd analog rumor that's been circulating the past few days, but the DS, Gameboy, GBA, and DSi all got upgrades of some sort. It might take a while but I'm sure they'll do something with the battery life at the very least. For myself, I can't rule out buying one if the software catalog starts to really add up and then just trading up later, but I don't see the point in buying one now (especially when the only things I'd play are RE Mercenaries and Zelda 64 which I've already played).

but fuck, I want to play RE Revelations so bad

I don't think Pokemon Grey/MagmaRuby/AquaSapphire are going to be released on the 3DS for backwards compatibility issues.
Vita is seriously going to eat the 3DS alive once it's released, assuming it won't be completely dead by then.

every decent 3rd party game will be out for the Vita and upscaled to look better on it. Only reason to own a 3DS will be the same reason anybody owns any Nintendo console... for the 1st party games. But will it be enough? I doubt it

I was planning on trading in my old ds and getting one in the next few days. Now i'm not sure if i should hurry up and do so, or wait until next year...

Nintendo stock is experiencing a sudden rise today. At one point, the stock managed to reach 9.7% above yesterday's level.

So what's up? Bloomberg explains that, among the reasons causing the spike, investors have learned that Nintendo will host some sort of 3DS related event on September 13.

Nintendo hasn't made any mention of a September event, so it's unclear what the investors are referring to. The Tokyo Game Show will be held from September 15 through September 18, but Nintendo, as usual, is not expected to participate.

Inside Games has posted its own report on the 3DS-related event Nintendo will supposedly be holding on September 13. Various sources have confirmed with Inside that Nintendo is planning some sort of announcement around that time, although they would not confirm the September 13 date. Additionally, the site's sources say that Nintendo is planning on announcing an extremely big title.

Word of a September 13 meeting first appeared earlier today in a Bloomberg article discussing a sudden spike in Nintendo's share price. Tokai Tokyo Financial Holdings analyst Yusuke Kakuda told Bloomberg that the spike was caused by reports that Nintendo would be holding a 3DS-related event on the 13th. Nintendo has not yet officially announced any such event.

The 13th would be close to the start of the Tokyo Game Show, which is being held this year from the 15th through the 18th. Nintendo does not take part in TGS, but last year the company did hold its "Nintendo Conference" press event a couple of weeks after TGS. Nintendo Conference served as the Japanese debut for the 3DS.

What would be an "extremely big title" anyways? Zelda is coming out with skyward sword, there's already a mario in the works (i think?). I can't imagine them creating a 2nd of either series at the same time.
