I've always prefered the Prime Series to Super Metroid, Though Super was ballin' and i enjoyed it.

Anyway my problem with the new Mario games is just, i feel like they could do so much more with Mario other than add graphics and decrease the difficulty another age level every generation... I loved the series, Mario 64 and even Super Mario Sunshine were fun for me, the former more-so but not by leaps and bounds... Just feels like they've taken so much away from the series in exchange for gimmicks and looking prettier, which while true for a lot of series, still really sucks.

This kind of "Slightly Improve graphics, Dumb down gameplay" even found its way over to Paper Mario when it came to the DS, and created what is unanimously known as the worst installment of Paper Mario. While its still enjoyable for many, Has its same quirky charm, just feel like Nintendo has been systematically been taking a step backwards with Mario lately, but hey, It probably sells better and you can't blame em for wanting money.

Oh, I might have missed saying it, But Super Mario 3D Land did hold my attention for he 8 or so hours it too me to clear it 100%, so its not like it was horrible or uninteresting, It was just rather mediocre and has no replay value once you've won, and since its a Mario game, its kinda expensive for what you get. Still fun for its run through and up to whomever to decide if its worth the price!

Yeah I really liked the prime series, especially the first and third games, but the DS game was crap. But super metroid is still my favorite metroid game. It's just personal preference. On the topic of Mario, out of the current generation of new-ish games, I think galaxy/ galaxy 2 were the best. New Super Mario in all it's incarnations were fun, but they were just throw backs to older games and didn't really capture what was great about those games. Same with 3D land.

But anyway this is the 3DS thread so I should probably talk about 3DS games.
Games I'd recommend:
Starfox 64 3D, it's the best starfox game, with better graphics. Nuff said.
Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D, same deal as starfox.
Tales of the Abyss a port of a ps2 game but a great game nonetheless
Fire Emblem Awakening one of the best FE games yet. If you like tactics games FE is one of the better series.
Sonic Generations The PC/Xbox etc versions are better, but the stages are different and it's still a pretty fun game. Probably only recommend the 3DS version to die-hard Sonic fans though.

There's lots of other great games but others have already recommended them for the most part.

The Love Affair Is Over, One Piece: Romance Dawn Isn’t Coming To North America

One Piece: Romance Dawn will be localized for Nintendo 3DS care of Namco Bandai Games Europe. The announcement was made during Japan Expo where Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Full Burst was revealed.

At Anime Expo, we asked Namco Bandai if they will bring One Piece: Romance Dawn here since other titles have been confirmed for North America. Unfortunately, a representative said to Siliconera there are "no plans" to release One Piece: Romance Dawn in North America.

Turns out Nintendo just wants to sell me $20 worth of shitting street pass games? I guess they must be desperate for money?

There was a pretty big update to street pass in general. Like being able to street pass over wifi in the US.

If it's the one they were talking about a couple weeks back (pretty sure it was), anywhere that has Nintendo Zone wifi (Best Buy, Starbucks, Toys R Us, etc) copies street pass data into temporary storage and distributes it to anyone that comes within range of the networks. So you essentially street pass their router, it reads/saves your street pass info, and distributes anything that it has available at that time.

Just saw some data that Animal Crossing: New Leaf broke 500,000 sales in June alone, and now makes up about 15% of all 3DS game sales for 2013. It's probably mostly responsible for the 40% increase in 3DS hardware sales in June as well.

Now if only they released it for the Wii U...

Just got my gold reward from club nintendo. Link's Awakening DX. Also just registered my copy of SMT IV, I am going to get both Oracle games with the credit and use the remainder to get the new Mario and Luigi game coming out next month. I fucking love all of this.

The Nintendo 3DS XL system is about to get a little more formal. On August 11, Nintendo is releasing a black version of the Nintendo 3DS XL hand-held system, joining the currently available range of colors: blue, red and pink.

The system is launching on the same day as Nintendo 3DS game Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, so fans that pick up a new black system or already own a Nintendo 3DS can also play the exciting new entry in the much-loved Mario & Luigi role-playing series. Freakin finally. Been waiting on this color to pick up a 3DS. Got plenty of time before Pokemon and Smash Bros.... so might wait for a sale. The Blue/Red models have been $169.99 a bunch of times in the past.
