Picked up a 3DSXL (for Pokemanz) and while it's pretty nice, the build quality is pretty sub-par for Nintendo. Hinges are a bit wobbly, Dpad feels loose, case feels like cheap plastic... overall just feels bleh compared to my old DS Lite. At first I thought it was defective because of the loose feeling dpad, but I checked online and XLs have had loose dpads since they launched (I have a black one, so impossible for it to have been a launch problem). FOR SHAME NINTENDO.

The latest entry in the Harvest Moon series is Harvest Moon: Linking the New World for 3DS, this week’s Famitsu reveals.

Due out in February for 5,040 yen in Japan, the game is produced by Yoshifumi Hashimoto and features character design by Igusa Matsuyama.

The player takes on the role of a male or female farmer in Oaktree Town, where non-player characters like madam Elise, the bright and young Fritz, and the old lady Edda exist. Field work is said to be easier than before, and as you progress through the story, you’ll be able to enter a safari where you can take care of animals. You can also play at the river and fish. Marriage partner candidates, such as Ririe and Lega, are also shown in the magazine.

Tidbits from Famitsu’s interview with Hashimoto follow below.

• Among the other farmers there is also a tutorial character. Each farmer has their own personality.
• “Linking” also means connecting with the world of the game.
• StreetPass will allow you to exchange personal data.
• Countries that you can trade with will increase. As will the elements that allow you to ship popular goods and other items wanted in a certain country.
• In the safari, connections with wild animals are drawn. There are two times as many wild animals as there were in the previous game.
• The basic flow won’t change.

Development is currently 80 percent complete.

Famitsu.com has gone up with its online preview of the newly announced Harvest Moon: Linking the New World, providing our first look at the upcoming 3DS title.

One winter’s day, our protagonist, spending everyday the same way, was looking to add some spice to his humdrum life. Then he saw a flier that said, “Wanted: new farmer! Would you like to work with me?” Thinking that being a farmer might be just the spice he needed to change his life, he submitted the paperwork to the farm in Oaktree Town right away. One week later, he received notice that he made it through to the trial farm phase. Thrilled to begin his farming life, he sets out for Oaktree Town.

As the main character, you have just moved to Oaktree Town, longing to become a farmer. Your farm will be the stage for your new life. In the fields, you’ll grow various crops while repeatedly harvesting and shipping, and steadily growing your farm.

There are other farmers in Oaktree Town, too, like young lady Elise, spunky boy Fritz, and old lady Edda. They are your friendly, more experienced neighbors who will understand you well. You’ll be able to assist your fellow farmers while, at times, also competing with them and enjoying a bustling farm life.

As you progress through the story, you’ll eventually be able to go to a place called the “Safari.” In this “Paradise of Animals,” wild animals freely roam about. This game will offer new animals to assist, and the types of wild animals that appear in the Safari will increase as the story advances. Confirmed animals set to appear include Angora rabbits, parrots, and reindeer.

Harvest Moon: Linking the New World is due out for 3DS in Japan in February 2014.

Chocobo Racing 3D - Canceled

Years before Square Enix revealed Bravely Default or Theatrhythm Final Fantasy, they showed a short video for Chocobo Racing 3D. We haven’t heard news about the game since it’s initial announcement so Siliconera turned to the creator of the original Chocobo Racing for PsOne, Takashi Tokita, to get some answers.

"The original Chocobo Racing was made by me," Tokita said to Siliconera. "But the one for the 3DS was a project being handled by someone else, and as far as I know, it has been closed. Now, if I had made it, I would have made sure that it came out. Unfortunately I was not!"

Chocobo Racing 3D appeared to have more than racing. The only video for the game shows a racer on foot fighting another character with a sword.

Maybe it's a hero who failed, or possibly Dark Link is from Lorule and got turned. Hilda doesn't necessarily seem evil, just that her world needed a hero so she's borrowing Hyrule's. As excited as I am for this game, having played OoT on the 3DS, I can't help wishing that they had done a full 3d world. Also wish they had stuck with New Hyrule from Wind Waker's timeline for the portable games. I'm definitely concerned that this might mark the end of that Hyrule for a while and a transition to the dark timeline..

So I was talkin to friends and for Pokemon and other shit, you need to disable the stupid child online protection thing in parental controls... Mine wants me to like sign on the 3DS and then send it into Nintendo lol wtf? They didn't have to deal with the same hassle, have you guys?
