error 1160 is just because there are so many people trying to patch at the same time, just keep spamming retry

Sorry, I fail. It's not 1160, it's 1155, I'm getting a mix of the two and I can't decipher one from t'other.

Really, both just mean the network is getting slammed, just keep hitting retry you'll eventually get it.

had to run home for a sec. is there any specific folder within the FFXI folder this patch.txt file needs to go into?

Okay, I must be doing something wrong. I apologise in advance guys, but:
I keep crashing on FFXIMain.dll, and it keeps saying I need 2002 files. It's not having trouble connecting, but will always crash about 6 files into the download. Am using EU POL.. Have I broken something? Will deleting FFXIMain.dll and checking files help?

You definitely did something wrong if it's saying you still need 2002 files, that's nearly the entire patch....

And the "crashing" is just from POL being busy, why do you keep asking about it.

Eh, I just kept getting the feeling they're linked. My bad.
I guess just gonna head to bed, and hope it works tomorrow, otherwise it looks to be a full reinstall.
