All of the posters who aren't in support of the select few BG members and their undying crusade against wiki were 'there,' so I'm not really sure what sort of an accusation that is.

As far as I can tell, most people have a similar distrust of otherwiki (though most continue to use it anyway because it's convenient) and understand the feelings all of us share about it, and a select few posters like you are trying to tell us to "get over it and move on, it's just a donation scam, it happened years ago".

I have nothing against using otherwiki, it's convenient and some people don't care where they get their information from as long as they get it. What I have a problem with is the idea that a thread would be made on the forum of the people who made a separate wiki to take a stand against otherwiki for what they did, and ask us to update otherwiki.

It's been forever ago, most people don't even know about the drama at this point. I'd also say you're confusing "most people" with "most people who adamantly speak out." You clearly do have something against using wiki or you wouldn't continue to use childish pejoratives when referencing it. Again, this forum is much more than the few extremists who show up to argue in every thread wiki is mentioned (myself included.) Just like any other extremist, you've rationalized behavior that affects the community in a negative way for some cause you think to be just. There is nothing to be won by doing this, and if you really do give a damn about the community, then you should stop. If a thread like this offends you, too bad. Deal with it.

I don't tend to namecall or flame on BG. I dare you to find a single post where I have. I haven't said anything about otherwiki that isn't true, and if you consider 'otherwiki' and 'fraudwiki' to be childish pejoratives, then I think you're blowing things out of proportion. Mostly, those are terms to avoid confusion with the wiki, so people know which one we're talking about.

If a thread like this offends you, too bad. Deal with it.

You seem to think the BG community is sitting in a corner brooding over otherwiki every night, when it's simply a matter of distrust. We aren't wasting our lives away planning revenge like Captain Ahab. But if a situation comes up where we have to use judgement regarding otherwiki, obviously we'd take a cautious stance. I also find it silly that I'm explaining the stance of a community just for the specific few like yourself that have a problem with our distrust for otherwiki. I know I don't speak for everyone, but I also know I'm certainly not alone in how I feel.

In case you hadn't noticed, most of the BG admin and moderator staff are also of the same opinion as the community, and share the distrust in otherwiki. Ultimately, if Sonomaa, or an admin/mod not yet involved in the thread, decides this thread doesn't belong and wants to lock or remove it, that'll be it. Personally, I'd have done it already but I am involved in this thread and to lock it myself would be an abuse of my power. Which is the same reason I didn't lock it outright. If us having a problem with a thread being posted on our forums to ask us to update a wiki most of us have moral issue with, so much so to the point we made our own wiki, offends you then I'm afraid you'll just have to be the one to deal with it.

@ Khamsin: If you were really thinking about closing this thread, 'cause it's supporting so-called "otherwiki", you're just being pathetic and turning your eyes away from reality. BGWiki is fucking dead compared to FFXIClopedia, like it or not. Most people haven't even heard of BGWiki, so go on FFXIClopedia to look up information, and most of those that have heard still rather look up info on FFXIClopedia, 'cause the quantity of the two wikis doesn't even compare. Hence by updating BGWiki you're only going to help a very small part of the FFXI community, whereas by updating FFXIClopedia you help a much larger part.

@shepardG and whoever else is editing the FFXIClopedia site: I'm gonna add some of the waist pieces, till I eventually fall asleep.. mostly out of boredom really lol. Can't wait to finally get back on FFXI to actually get some of that stuff.

I was considering it because it was inappropriate. This isn't the place to ask for help updating another wiki. I didn't lock it, however, because I'm bias and it would be an abuse of my mod abilities. That doesn't stop another mod from doing it, though, because nothing good will come from this thread.

Like I said, I have nothing against people using otherwiki, or even posting links to specific articles in it. It's convenient and has a larger volume of information, albeit of questionable accuracy at times and staff that have a few issues.

However, coming here and making a thread asking BG to update otherwiki takes gall. It is tactless, and does nothing but create drama. They've gone this far with Charitwo and minions silently skimming info from BG to update otherwiki themselves, why do they now come here and ask us to do it for them? That's just adding insult to injury.

1. This is most definetly the place to ask for help you fucking prick. It's BG! The best players of FFxi frequent this forum, they are assholes, but they play the game better than 90% of the rest of the community. Why wouldn't I ask for their help?? I'd be a fool not to.

If you feel like updating a site, by all means. But this thread is a regurgitation of arguments that we've all heard before, and I'm not fucking interested. There's way too much neat information that people are discovering.
