If you have to ask about xp at this point, you're doing it wrong.

blablabla saying if ur asking doesnt answerd nothing.

Wut. All EXP climbs at the same rate. Depends on how many red chests you get that give Ebon and Golden Lights.

Gonna take a long time to cap exp on mandies since they don't drop ruby light.

So had about 200 mins left after xping bst to 80. Decided to run around camping ephemeral clionids/limule for a little bit on naked bst.

    http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i3...724_143655.jpg

    1/2 on Limule.
    0/5 on Clionids.

Anyone have any anecdotal experiences/suggestions with camping these for abyssite?

What are some squishy and easy to pull mobs that give ruby, amber, pearl and azure? Hate mandys due to lack of ruby and bugards suck with gimp pickup parties.

At first I was really enjoying Abyssea, but as of late I've been getting annoyed with it. Three failed runs in a row...

First run was in La Theine, at Crapaudy. Good group, killing with decent speed, focusing on Azure auras, which we were getting quite a bit of. Got max Azure aura about 45 minutes in, started focusing on Pearlescent. We got about thirty-ish max tier blue pyxides, none of which contained any time extensions. All healing and temp item chests; mostly healing, with scattered cruor and very few exp pyxides (about 1-2, near the end). This leads me to think that even if you are getting max tier Blue pyxides, you still need more Azure aura in order to get exp and time extensions.

However, the second run went against that. Same camp, but our group was quite frankly awful; always complaining and arguing, having trouble listening to aura kill directions, and our puller was a THF/DNC who pulled slowly (in order to stay alive) and died a couple of times with links and slow sleeping. I had seventy minutes that run, and got kicked out anyway; however, not a minute after I get kicked out, the group comes across three Time Extensions in a row. They switched to Pearlescent (or so they intended; I didn't see how successful they were), and got no more time extensions after that, and end up getting kicked.

Third run I just got out of a few minutes ago. Started with Azure auras, built that up until we started getting time extensions. Got three, we switch to Pearlescent, and again, time extensions stop dead. Forty minutes of pyxides raining from the sky, every single type of blue pyxis EXCEPT time extension, and everyone gets das boot.

The only conclusion I can draw from this is that after hitting Azure aura tier high enough to spawn time extensions, you need to keep with it, because the two things that correlated in both cases were that we switched to Pearlescent auras, and Time Extension pyxides stopped spawning when we did (We still got max tier blue pyxides, but they were all healing/item/cruor/exp). But of course, correlation does not imply causation, so either that's the reason, or we're terribly unlucky, or there's some third factor that I'm missing. Next time we do this I'll keep count of Azure auras. I'd really like to know what I'm doing wrong, because I did two successful runs before this (each lasting at least eight hours or more), and in both runs we started with Azure aura building until time extension pyxides dropped, then switched to Pearlescent immediately after that to get more. So idk. :/

And as of late, I've been trying to figure out how to open Ruby pyxides; as I have terrible luck with them (ALWAYS end up one number over or under the five number range. grrr). So I've been keeping a log of messages and numbers of my unlocking endeavors, as Urat requested.

    Here it is:

u always have to keep up with magic killshots every small interval because if you dont, alot of gold and red boxes gotta fuck you up when u need those fateful blue boxes

at least this is what i have been observing, almost all JP leaders will start to ask us to perform magic killshots when we are at 90 min mark......

maybe they just wanna be safe so that everyone have at least 90 mins on standby for the next group but that certainly been working so far

the worse i been is that we have 140 mins saved up at one point, with only azure, pearlcelent and ruby lights built up, doing fine, and then leader decide to go for amber lights and TE went downhill that point onwards until we decided not to risk/grind anymore and stopped the party at 100 min mark

Can't really say I've had luck on TEs after stopping with Azure, either. Then again, usual counter seems to be, "Kill faster!" Overall, I'm still worried about the possibility of zone-wide chest limitations and it being crowded.

TE's are pretty damned fickle. There's got to be a trick to getting them to pop, I've yet to have a party go on longer than 2~3 hours, largely because of lack of TE despite capped Azure and Perle.

The runs that I have been involved with are usually successful because we keep bouncing between kill methods. We will do the Pearl>Azure>ruby/amber cycle that everyone does in order to initially pop TEs and get lights from golds, but it never fails that , despite being a 3 stone run, someone doesnt have 3, or thought they did, or has to leave, etc.

Every time we get some reps, we tend to cycle back and start the lights up again, not only to encourage blue chests again, but to build up the new people's light/xp as well. Maybe thats the best way to go about it? Spend, say, 20-30 minutes focused on one light, then cycle through? Not just 10-15 kills, but like a solid 20-30 minutes per light.

This has worked great for us, and i've done 2 12 hour runs this way.

I do not believe there is a 'trick' to making TEs appear; once you are at the highest tier with a good probability then that's all you can do. I've looked extensively at the remnants of the debug information SE left behind and it does not hold any specific chest information concerning what's inside, only the type/probability.

Thanks for the feedback. :3 I'll definitely try cycling aura types. Could that possibly imply that auras slowly degrade over time if you don't keep them up?

Any luck on cracking the Red pyxis code?

Also, for those interested in possible equipment augments, on my first run I got a Tarutaru Sash with a Treasure Hunter+1 augment. I tried posting a picture of it in my last post, but it said I need to post ten times in order to post links. D= In the next run, we found another Tarutaru sash with Gilfinder+2, but I didn't get it. It's a shame Thief can't equip Tarutaru sashes, otherwise, TH5... oh dear lawdy.

Some people have been worried that large amounts of people in a zone can lead to chest drought. After having each chest entry numbered, I went into Abyssea and noted the color/reward and chest numbering:

60~100 in zone. (roughly 4~6 alliances)

Total chests in dats dedicated = 48 (not including mimics)

    Pachypodiums
    #1=blue, blue(TE), blue, blue(TE), blue, blue(Temp), blue(TE), red
#2=blue, blue, gold, red, blue, blue, red, blue
    #3=blue, blue
    #4=red, blue, blue, blue, blue(EXP). blue(TE), blue(TE)
    #5=blue, blue, blue(Temp)
    #6=blue, blue, red
    #7=blue(EXP)
    #8=red, blue(EXP)
    #9=blue(TE)
    #10=blue, red

#11+ were not encountered. EDIT: When there were 160+ people in zone, we were getting #17s, not even half of what the max is.

tl;dr Chests are assigned on the fly. There is no need to worry about too many people in a zone ruining chest drop rate.

So my linkshell attempted to do a key item popper farm today. It didn't go all that well.

First thing we did was zone into Tahrongi and start killing Mandies with melee killshots and physical blood pact killshots to build pearl light. No problem there.

Second we switched to BLM killshots for azure light, staying at the Mandies. Again, no problem there.

Once we got a reasonable number of TE's and had everyone at 120 minutes or so, we moved to the Thalassinions and began trying to kill them with "magical WS's" for amber light. Our intention was to finish that and begin killing NM's and/or Ruby-less mobs like Bats and Mandies for big gold boxes. However, a small group began gathering for Chukwa and he was on our list, so I claimed him and a couple of us "low-man'd" him while the rest of the alliance was fighting Thalassinions for amber light.

Long story short, I was trying to watch light types and such, but when I claimed Chukwa, that went out the window so I am rather at a loss for what was happening, but in the end we were NOT able to get sufficient amber light to get gold boxes, so we gave up with 60 minutes left and just started popping and killing NM's.

My group was saying that it did not appear to be "magical WS's" that triggered amber light, but more like elemental WS's instead. I know many of those are the same thing, but things like Atonement and Spirits Within were not working, while Red Lotus Blade, Primal Rend (yes, we had a lolBST come along >.>), and Raiden Thrust WERE producing amber light.

Two questions: does this match anyone elses' results, and has anyone discovered any other amber light droppers in Tahrongi? Thanks!

I can confirm that Atonement actually does count as melee WS killshot. We got a ruby light from an Atone kill, I'll load some screenshot if needed.

I thought it was a given when people say "elemental WS kills" they mean things that actually say they deal elemental damage in the description.

Also, I think coeurls might give Amber Light in Tahrongi, haven't tested yet though.
