So I went in to Tahrongi today for an hour and a half. We had 12 people, killed the cockatrice NM and the eft NM.
We literally got 0 cruor chests. 90 percent of the chests we got were invisible, is this happening to everyone?

This is exactly why noone plays as a TEAM and always backstabs each other in the back every single time in FF11.
And SE is to blame for all of it. You think a job as popular as SAM is gonna sit there and watch 1 SAM lot over the 13 other SAMs in the ally FIFTY TIMES when they all want masamune?
NO! I smell MPK, ninja lotting, botting, stealing of mobs, training of mobs and a bunch of other nidhogg/byakko type drama all over again in abyssea because of SE's ignorance. There is going to be alotttt of drama over these weapons until you can lowman them at level 99.
I don't do any of those things above and I good team player, but I would never kill the same mob 25-50 times for ONE person and then have them quit the LS and screw you over after. Even mythics and relics you can do as a team to an extent with multiple ppl benefitting.
If it dropped 1 gem for each time you exploited the mob and you can hold it and do it 50 times and it drops 50 gems, that would be neat but a little bit too easy. still, drop 5-10 especially since its not a tier 1 mob and you gotta farm tiers for that crap.
This - in a sense. I'm not really worried about drama though with the LS I'm in - as everyone is pretty level-headed when it comes to gear.
I'm a career MNK, and I look at the gear I've acquired over the years, and most of it comes from events where several people would benefit from it as well. Usukane, Dynamis, Black Belt... the rest is really a combination of AH gear, mission rewards and quest rewards.
I farmed up the gil for my Usukane Body killing Zi'Tah bats pre-nerf... I have no reservations about submitting myself to grueling punishment to obtain items I really want.
I do however, have a problem with having linkshell events revolve around me, and solely me. I really don't feel like asking for an alliance to spend 2-3 nights a week in Abyssea farming pop items and killing ass-rape NMs with only myself in mind.
It's wait and see, maybe - I have a couple of ideas that might make this suck a bit less - but it really depends on the pop methods of these NMs and how effectively they can be soloed, duoed or trioed...
just left latheine and i can confirm that we got a message saying mob was consealing a treasure chest... we spent a good 2mins searching for it. turns out it was a black invisible but targetable spot where the mob died... nothing could be clicked on...
I agree, seriously SE. They did things right with Cruor in this addon(no randomness and fair sharing) but that was only with only the three sets of armor.
Though there are alternatives. Besides the Empyrean weapons, there are the Walk of Echoes variants and the Double Attack variants. For WoE variant, it might actually take longer(having to lot against dozens of people) but at least it's a bit more "soloable". I'm sure once everyone hits 80 and gets the hang of things, even random people will be able to team up and do WoE successfully(see Nyzul).
Example of alternatives for Samurai:
1. Split path from damage - Masamune (DMG:97 Delay:437) (The one everyone is looking at)
vs
2. Other path - Hiradennotachi (DMG:95 Delay:450) (The WoE version)
vs
3. (No DMG+) OAT path which can lead to Kokushitsunotachi (DMG:92 Delay: 464 Double Attack +5%).
Trials.
The final trial for Kokushitsunotachi is 30 Quetzalli(NM from Abyssea?) kills. I'm assuming like the other <insert NM here kills>, you can credit at the same time as other people with the weapon equipped.
That means unlike Masamune or Hiradennotachi, everyone can work together at the same time to progress towards that weapon.
Everyone who bought Abyssea is going to feel entitled to an Empyrean weapon. SE made a seriously shitty move by making these items so hard to get.
wanna move this to the empyrean weapon thread so those of us that don't give a fuck about preconceptions can keep up with the discussion here?
can also confirm that chests were either invisible or grey in abyssea konschtat tonight.
Even worse, most likely the further upgrades will involve more items from the next expansions mobs or the next trial will involve another 50 items from the corresponding abyssea zones.
Right now looks like a relic equivalent you dont need to spend money on.
For the benefit of the people upgrading those weapons I hope there is atleast more items Carabosse drops other than the headband we got. This could give incentive for helpers but I guess we'll see.
Just checking, did it cast aeroga 3 too quick to stun, or was it just completely immune?
I just got Vermeil Bhuj today and was wondering if people are finding this to be a rare drop or what? We went 1/1 and I think we did get 2 exclamation marks over it's head at one point. We just were trying random stuff elemental weaponskills, nukes, SCs, and MBs. So I'm not sure if I could narrow it down or even if the !! represents it being weakened. Sure didn't seem like it was weakened.
Aside from that though my point is that if this GAX isn't like 1-5% drop rate it's pretty much a slap in the face to any one going for an Empyrean GAX. Like apart from the fact you'll likely have the ability to upgrade Empyrean weapons it seems ridiculous that they should be this difficult to get at least with the stats or lack stats they have now.
I guess I was naive to think that SE would keep to their word that they were designing Abyssea to be something you can do a lot more casually (I believe their words were something like "party content"). I was hoping the level cap raise would be their chance to completely change the many flaws that endgame has had for years.
From the sound of this, they haven't changed/learned a damn thing. Well, okay, they added some more good gear you can obtain relatively casually (Cruor stuff), but other than that, it seems like most of the NMs in Abyssea worth doing are alliance-level kills. I understand that there are still really hardcore players that desire quests like this, but it was dumb of them to display them on the Abyssea website because in the last 3 addons they displayed things that were possible for most players to obtain.
And yeah, I think the coins of X will be even harder to finish, because you're always going to get some guy who lots coins he doesn't need, or people who want to finish multiple weapons on multiple jobs, etc. In most other MMOs this wouldn't be an issue because you're stuck to a single class while playing any given character, but in this game you can play all 20 jobs on the same character, yet they adapt the same philosophy on obtaining items.
What I don't get is that before this patch, the DMG route was simply "Kill monster X", which was something that was accessible for a wider range of people, and now they suddenly make both paths require items. The hell?
Unless this shit really scales to the number of people you have, fucking retarded. I was expecting abyssea to be fully doable by a small group of people like SE implied. (6ish)
It did cast it pretty fast, though it was at like 3% so we were just trying to kill it and people were at low hp and dint move out. For most part its easily manageable as long as people pay attention. It did at one point enter some kind of crazy mode, I dint see if it used hundred fist but it was attacking very fast. Seems to be connected with the turmoil weaponskills.
As far as I've seen it does not resist stun, all my bashes landed and I dont think ppl resisted stuns, however, it uses spells very fast so its hard to stun reliably.
At one point it used cure VI like 10 times in a row.
As far as magic goes it seems to switch immunities. It's best to check with tier 1's if the element gets absorbed. If not, you can nuke.
Atonment was absorbed every time and even additional effect on hauticlare made it recover hp.
Also, I'm pretty sure most nukes resisted when they did damage but if they got absorbed they recovered full dmg. So alot of nukes for 300 dmg, but in absorb phase it can make it recover 1200 or w/e.
I guess we really need to find out how to make those exclamation points appear and what exactly they do. Hopefully if you are able to significantly weaken NMs like this smaller groups can manage.
Cichy, how difficult were the T1s? Can they be soloed or low-manned?
It hit about as hard as Verthandi? I want to say 250-300ish on sam before PDT set gets slapped on?
k well I had just turned in 5 stones (3 that were on me, 2 that the NPC had stored) and I believe the cap is 120 minutes because...
http://i46.tinypic.com/j0usrn.png
when I had talked to the NPC she said I had 89 minutes because I had just left there to jeuno to pick up my other stones, and, well.. I know the math is kinda poor but :/
