My LS popped "Briareus" today, A Giga with golden Helm. (think is boss)

You need 3 Key items from 3 pre-NMs Gigas from each Canyon.

We was TankPT & DDPT, dont work.
It tooked from a well geared SAM/THF (2% damage SATA Gekko)

Try next time Kite & Mana/RA burn.
had only SCH & RDM, T3 Ice spells does about 400dmg.

After our paladins flashed sometimes it had "!!" over his head,
then it was stunned for like 1,2 secs, whms starts too.
Works pretty good.

PLDs told it makes a sickness move called "Miscelaous Hammer"
it will be do 1000dmg to PLD and Sick(cant be cured need to sacrificed or Cursna, 1 time cursna works other time not)

or the move will be reset all abilites from Target, our Paladin was able in 10 mins, to use his 2h 3times.

So very good for kite and keep hate. Need to try.

My findings:

Unlike most of you, I have spent my time in Abyssea solo completing the quests that I can. There is no simple way to put it, other than to say, this takes a long time too. Quests need to be repeated.

I have been doing Abyssea - Tahrongi

Initially I completed the quests "His Box, His Precious", alongside "Weapons, not Worries." I then discovered by talking to every npc on the map, that a new quest could not be accessed. I discovered that you have to complete "Refuel and Replenish." This is actually a bigger pain than it would seem. The reason is, the Martellos often regen themselves, and nobody seems to use the Martellos. You can't refuel a Martello unless it is below 900. Once I was able to find a Martello below 900 I completed that quest and was able to access "Cleansing the Canyon."

I completed "Cleansing the Canyon" and the reward for that is merely an "Elixer." However, a cardigan is now present at base 2. I have spoken with every single npc and I cannot get a new quest. I have repeated Weapons, not Worries twice now and completed the refuel quest once again. As it would appear, you have to repeat these quests over and over again. Or....I could be wrong.


Has anybody seen their fame go up? I'm wondering if you earn fame from getting ancient abyssite and fighting NMs (which I have not done). As of now, I have completed 3 quests, and repeated a couple yet I still have the "Worst" fame according to the NPC. It's probably because I have not fought any NMs yet? Or does it really take this long? if so, SE really should have tested this system out better. With 3 different zones, it would seem to take a couple months just to conqueor one of them.

Clearly I must be getting some fame from these quests as I was not able to activate "Cleansing the Canyon" until I completed the refuel quest, and the two previous. However, at this point, I have spoken to every NPC on the map, and none will give me a quest. Maybe I need some ancient abyssite?

Regardless, this is another option to consider. Each zone seems to have an "End Game" NM that needs to be taken out to "save" the specific world. Who knows, maybe by completing all the quests, or finding all the atmas, or finding all of the ancient abyssite, maybe we will get time extenders that are more beneficial than 3 minutes? Or maybe our players will become more powerful while in the abyssea zones (similar to finding all the hexes in ASA).

Getting 50 items for the magian weapons seems absurd. This is why I am trying to tackle the quests in these zones to see if they can deliver an easier method to obtain the magian weapons.

Had 2 mins left on Visitant status from last entry, used 1 stone, for 32 minutes, bought Ivory Abyssite of Sojourn, then used a 2nd stone for 65 minutes and... dun dun duuuuuuuuun! The key item wasn't used up :3

So, next test will be if we can hold multiple Soujorn abyssites, and whether it may "evolve" or change color based on the color your body accruess as you fight.

Can someone check the dats for the abyssea - tahrongi again, it was previously posted a mob by the name of Glavoid was there, but its not on the wiki page (assuming this is what drops glavoid shells) and if its the same track (tier 2 or 3) as its corresponding mobs (Carabosse and Briareus)

It's there but not been popped yet.

The OP contains pretty much all pop information that's been discovered (I may be missing a few things, but meh).

Edit: If anyone is willing to clarify which specific key item each of the lesser gigas NMs drop, that'd be great.

I plan on adding this information to both the BG Wiki and the otherwiki, and citing both by linking it to this thread. Anyone going to cry over that? Does anyone want specific credit or anything?

Are there any other threads that have Abyssea related information that I should be looking at before I start adding things?

On thought of the color, does anyone know what it means? I'm guessing it has something to do with the amount of Cruor you obtain, going into 2 hours of Abyssea tonight so I'll see what I can attempt to figure out.

You sir, may be on something here, the light seems so useless atm, when i next go in to the zone i should have enough cruor to buy the soujurn abyssite, if not then then soon after, and i'll test to see if any light changes its colour at all, it seems a logical move.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't. Each zone has it's own version of ancient abyssites that just act as a permanent buff for you in that area. You can get them randomly but for free off mobs. Or the NPC will let you buy the ivory versions that are universal to all areas but cost cruor, and limited to a few types.

Okay did 5 x 30 min today == 60min + 90min run.

We farmed Mandies and the Threw Bomblet NM for cruor, exp and Threw bomblets

Here are my experiences so far::

In total we got like 2000 cruor from those 60+90 min doing that.

- We had 10 people: 2xRDM,THF,2xPLD,COR and rest was SAMs
- The NM uses alot of annoying TP moves but this can at least be made a bit less if SAMs stay back, meditate and go in to WS, then move back again.


Normal Manides are squishy and gave us decent cruor per kill like 20-35 or so.

BUT - we got like 20 or so chests that dropped from mobs But with Gray Name - what the eff???? we couldnt target, open or anything ;;;;

Only 1 time - i repeat 1 time - did we get a chest to drop with green name that we could then open. and lo and behold it gave us curaga II or something sh.. like that lol ;;

But why 20 chests drop from mobs with gray names you are unable to do anything with? ;; that annoyed me alot ;;

Well that might be the case, but i really cant think of any other use for these lights as it is, i'll try to see what happens anyway, them lights aren't there for good looks, neither are the chests, and the abyssites are really the only thing i can think they benefit right now, really.
